OVP Relay
I just bought a new OVP relay for my 1989 300E, it has two red fuses on top, and the original have only one. Can I install the new relay, or they send me the wrong one? Thanks.

This looks like a job for Captain OVP!!!!!!!
However, he's already gone home for the day. He'll be back tomorrow bright and early and will see your OVP question like the bat signal and he will speed to your OVP rescue!
Or someone else may know...

but to answer your original question yes, you may install it.
Try replacing the fuse first...that way if all it takes is a new fuse, you can get your money back for the relay(s).
Avoid jump-starting if possible, try trouble shooting and problem solving first. Otherwise you'll keep frying your relay.

OVP Relay
My car had idling problems, and after I replaced the Idle Control Valve, the problem continued. Now I will try with the OVP.
I already replaced the fuse on top of the OVP.

May I ask why you bought a new one to begin with?

Yep. I agree with Henri (learned the hard way). Don't jump the darned thing or else the relay will be fried...

Hi i'm new on this forum. I just recieved my OVP relay today and tried it on right away. The one that came through the mail has 2 fuses on top. The OEM i had only has 1 fuse with less studs that fits at the base of the unit.I started the car (same idle, stalling) and when i tried to shut it off, the key went all the way out but the engine keeps runnning (no key on idle). Which btw, happens when i put a new fuse on the oem relay which has a broken fuse. I have no idea what happened! Any comments/suggestions/thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

The ignition switch provides power to start and keep the engine running.
OVP may cause the engine not to start but would not cause the engine to continue to run with the ignition off.

Out Of Control!!
I know there is SA who will start to blow smoke at this, but remember there are 4,7 and 9 pin types of OVP.
Depending on the VIN repeat VIN you make the appropriate selection------you or your supplier ask that--------- right!!

Hmmm that makes sense! I just don't quite figure out why my car runs, starts and shuts off better with the oem OVP relay (with a broken fuse) compared to when I install the new OVP relay with working fuses on it! It kinda seems like my car doesn't want the old OVP relay to go away. Bottom line, my ignition switch works perfect with the old OVP relay it has.

Oohhh! That means if you have the 7 pin relay, you must get the same one right? Would a fine working fuse on the relay mess the ignition switch that causes it to not shut off even when you take your key out? With a really wierd cracking noise. Compared to the old OVP relay that has broken fuse that seems to be working better starting and shutting it off.
