Best MODS for a M103 Or w124 body
I am thinking about going all out and get Nology Silver Spark Plugs. These are the best you can get that i know of. Silver being the best conductor, however i wanted to get feed back from you guys. I plan to put an SS blaster coil in and use plug wires that have no resistors. The Silver plugs have no resistors also,I thought about putting a magmaflow or remus muffler system on. I plan to change the transmission fluid to amsoil. Put bilstein shocks, new transmission and engine mounts, new ball joints, tie rods and bushing all around. The pics are of wheels i would like to put on it also. And drop in a K&N air filter,I already use mobil one 0w40 oil and mobil filter. This will take me a year or more to do all this, starting with the basics, but do have plans for the car. I dont want to turn this in to a super fast boy racer or anything. Just would like some more pep and better MPG, Do they make chips for this engine. I would like to get 50 more hp out of it if possable. Any thoughts let me know what you think about my plans

From what I understand, the Magnaflow exhaust sounds like a fart can, but the Remus sounds much better, albeit more expensive.
There are chips made for the M103 engine, but they are hard to find and cost $600+ for about 20HP boost.
K&N Filters have been discussed for a long time and have zero HP gains when compared to the stock filters. You are just getting the engine dirtier for no benefits.

Enzo, my Benzo
Chips do NOTHING on an M103...save up and turbo it or do a swap...better yet, just get a 500E. Remus sounds great on my car as far as exhaust.
Plugs H9DCO non resistor Bosch plugs and Bosch wires are what you should put in your car.
I'd put the 5 spoke wheels you posted....

Thanks I like the five spokes to,I didnt think I chip would do anything for the engine. If i do a turbo I would do a small and a large one as a twin turbo set up. That way you would have little or no lag.How well do these engines hold up to a turbo,do they make a oring copper head gasket for the m103. This will be long long time down the road,I am just AMG dreaming for now.

Where do you stick them????
There is no ECU !!!

Sequential???
Won't work....
Stock CR is 9.2:1 so the head and stock gasket will take all the boost you need for a reliable install.
If you're going to try to get more power out of a M103 then you need to become very well versed in the KE-Jetronic III.
You do not have a full electronic control on the engine or fuel management.
You want more power then tune it to full stock spec using all the recommended parts.
A high flow air filter like a K&N will help as will a high flow cat like a Magnaflow spun metal unit.
You'll get about all the power you can get for around $500.00...to go any further will cost very, very much more

Sorry....It is an ECU remap.
Here is the company who used to sell them:

LOL i have a lot to learn about the Benz, you cant tune them like you can a Bmw. I was think for the exhaust to take off the stock cats, Middle muffler and back muffler. And replace the cats with Two dynomax super converters, the middle muffler with 2 Dynomax Race Bullet Mufflers, and the back muffler with a Dynomax Ultra-Flo X Mufflers. This would be a true duel all the way back from the header. The last muffler is an X flow so it would cross the pulses. I just wonder how this would sound,Dynomax sounds good on Bmw inline 6s. Very smooth deep and high tech. Im just dreaming now but it would be nice to do everything i want to do.

^ On mine I had the two precats hollowed out and I have one single Magnaflow cat. A benefit of this is that the underside of the passenger carpet no longer gets burning hot...whether or not you have never noticed this.
It should allow for more flow too.

It controls the fuel injection system, but unlike what is usually considered an "engine" conttrol unit or module, it doesn't do anything else.
When you refer to chip in an ECU it assumes changes in fuel and timing...
There is no one place on a M103-12V that both functions can be altered for better performance

You could call it an ECU, but it is the Bosch KE-Jetronic III controller.

There is a guy on the mercedesshop.com forum who goes by JayRash who has one. If you do a search more should come up on it. He has some youtube videos under the same name too and his w124's seem pretty quick (ignore the turbo'd ones and look for the standard 300E)

Platinum is a better conductor than silver, gold above silver as well. It's simple materials properties. However, copper plugs (non-resistor) are the only I know of that do not foul quick on our cars.

Platinum is harder and last longer but silver Is better, next is copper followed by gold, then Platinum. I The electrical conductivity of all elements can be found by clicking on the Periodic Table at “EnvironmentalChemistry”. This includes:
Silver (Ag) 63,010,000 /ohm.m
Copper (Cu) 59,610,000 /ohm.m
Gold (Au) 45,210,000 /ohm.m
Platinum (Pt) 9,661,000 /ohm.m

Below is the only commercial product I know that can alter the fuel ratio on a KE and it's basically a rheostat type device.

From old school of hot rodding consider this: If you relieve back pressure with improved exhaust to get max benefit you must also increase flow on the intake side. If you do this you must compensate for the increased airflow by changing to proportionately larger injectors or a lean condition will exist. Given the low compression of these motors and the 170 or so HP output the motor is not restricted as much as you think. Changing exhaust alone on a mild compression motor is not going to give you the increases you desire. And stay away from K&N air filters. A good quality paper filter changed regularly will give you all the air you need. The other will just let in more debris with a sticky oil residue on everything. Pull an intake after 10-15k miles that has a K&N filter in front and you will be surprised at the crap adhering to the runner walls.
