Easy iPhone 4 / Droid bluetooth integration CHEAP for 03 E500
I bought a used V60 bluetooth adapter (or "puck") on eBay for $100. You can use a BMW unit ( BMW part # 84 11 0410 144) or a Mercedes adapter ( Mercedes part# B67875856). I used the BMW adapter, it works flawlessly. If you have a V60 phone cradle in your center console, all you have to do is plug the bluetooth adapter into the cradle where the v60 phone normally goes. The procedure takes less than 5 minutes. I know that this has been discussed on this forum numerous times, but I don't want anyone to miss out on such an easy, awesome upgrade! These part numbers are valid ONLY for 2003 & 2004 W211 cars.
If you do NOT have a V60 cradle already installed in your car, you need Mercedes part number B67875855, which is the "puck with tail". This plugs into a connector socket that is accessible by removing the false floor of the top compartment of the center console.
BMW bluetooth puck:
V60 cradle in center console:
Plug in the adapter, hold down the button on top of the puck for 5 seconds and wait for it to turn blue:
On your cell phone, turn bluetooth to ON. "BMW BTUM" will appear in your devices list. It will ask you to enter the bluetooth key code on the back of the puck. Enter the code to activate your car's phone system and sync your contacts. It took about 20 seconds with my iPhone 4.
The display inside the speedometer will show outgoing and incoming call numbers, and you can scroll through your contact list with the up and down keys on the steering wheel. The phone control buttons on the steering wheel are functional as well. the audio quality is excellent. What an easy upgrade for an 8-year old car!

Thanks, Delviacv2. Your car has the MHI (Multiple Handset Interface) phone system. W211 cars for 2005 have an MHI connector. You will need to locate the MHI conductor plate in your center console upper compartment. It's a U-shaped plate about 2 inches wide. There may be a plastic cover over the connector. You will need the bluetooth puck Mercedes part # B6 787 5878 or part# B6 787 6131. Either one should work for a 2005. Hope this helps!

I have nothing the false floor is completely flat, I need to retrofit all the modules, but if the plugs are not there I'm not going to even try. :-(

Delviacv2, since your car's VIN shows the option code for cell phone prewiring (Code 273), the MHI cable and connector SHOULD be lurking somewhere. Remove the false floor of the upper console compartment and have a look around. Remove the 2 torx screws near the latch levers in the front and 2 in the back of the tray.

My center console (06 e500 sport) has a removable dual cup holder only........ :-/
My printout doesn't have #384.... Shiet - I assumed since the cars says "tel" on the nav that it would automatically do blue tooth!!
So how do I do my iPhone 4 again??

Superman7, for 2003-2004 cars that have a phone pre-installed, you should see a phone cradle with a coiled cord next to it at the bottom of the upper compartment of then center console.

My data card has "384- telephone preinstalation CP High"
Do I have to remove the false floor and look under that for the socket?

Superman, yes, the connector is under the false floor of the top compartment, and you will need Mercedes part # 67875855, the puck with tail. It has a cable that plugs into the connector.

I was under the impression that even if my car was pre-wire I still need it this.

Also, do I have to go to the dealer to activate the phone on the head unit?

Superman, install it first and see if it works ok. All the features may work, or maybe only some. If not, your MB dealer can version code your car to activate the phone system with Star Diagnostic System (SDS).
Pcar928, I was lucky to find a no-reserve auction that had only one other bidder. I did see another one that had a $129 Buy-It-Now. In the last 45 seconds of the auction, the other bidder and I bid it up to $100. I won the auction by 63 cents. Remember that you can also use the BMW BTUM if you have a 2003-2004 W211.

With the portable bluetooth unit, your contacts don't download to your head unit, you don't get caller ID, your steering wheel controls don't work, and the audio comes out of a tiny little speaker in the unit instead of through your stereo system. It would be handy if you drive multiple older vehicles without bluetooth as it just clips to your sun visor.
Superman, it works with any phone that has bluetooth. It will pair up to two phones simultaneously. It paired my iPhone 4 and a friend's droid.

well a lot of us 03-04 don't have the cradle already in our cars so we need to shell out $350+ which is why I got the portable one cause I hardly ever talk on my phone only when gf is annoying me to talk to her lol

Foreyes, thank you for your help , I'll check my car for the socket and get the "B 67 87 58 55 (puck with tail)"
Hopefully I'll not need to go to the dealer for activation ...
