Weird noise when Turning
I was pulling out of a parking spot this morning and I had the wheel turned to the right, almost all the way, and I heard a strange 'popping' sound, seemingly coming from the front right wheel. It sounded as if the wheel was plucking the coils of the spring like a guitar spring. It was pretty cold, ~8deg F, but I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it. I have stock wheels and tires (17x7.5 225 45 17). I had the car jacked up last week, and checked ball joints, and everything seems tight.
BTW, I'm looking for some info here before I venture outside where it's still sub 10 degrees, so I haven't been under the car since I heard the sound.

Have the steering gear bolts been serviced in the past 4 years or 50,000 miles? This link will explain the procedure. The service is very simple, takes little time to perform.

I don't think that it a thing to worry about. I have used PS2s on both my 430 and 55...both have had that same sound when turning the wheel at very slow speed. They grip so well that when you are turning the wheel faster than it can track at the slow speed, it simply pops into line. It is even more evident in parking garages where they have coated the concrete w/whatever.

I actually re-torqued the steering gear bolts last week (thanks for the instructions). I can feel the vibration in the steering wheel when I hear the noise. I wonder if I may have over-torqued and snapped one of the bolts...

That seems to make sense. I might try having someone turn the wheel so I can see it. I'm glad my tires are plenty sticky.
