BMW 5 series to MB C63 AMG..good idea?
First of all, I would say Hi to everyone on this MB forum. I am also a member of 5series.net forum as my daily drive is a BMW 530i E60 with M package and full options.
I was looking for something faster and drove 335i sports, 535i and 550. I accidently bumped into this MB C63 AMG 2009 model with 22k miles on it and wow..loved it!
I would like to get some information from current MB C63 owners. I have always driven a BMW and this is the first time I am going for a MB so my questions are mostly from a BMW perspective.
1. Can I use C63 2009 as a daily drive? My daily driving is around 50-60 miles everyday.
2. From my experience BMW is not really a very reliable car. What about reliability of C63 when used as a daily drive? Can I drive it without warranty/service package without any issues? Any specific problem associated with this particular model that I should be aware of?
3. Should I be concerned about warranty? Can I purchase warranty on a non-warranty car?
4. My wife and kids would be in the same car occasionally and I found the seats to be too small as compared to my 5 series. Is this a practical car as a family drive?
Thanks in advance for the replies

1- yes, absoloutely, you can use it as a daily driver for even 100 miles a day
2- The car is very reliable. I highly reccomend you purchase an extended warrant. If something happens, at leat you wont have to pay huge amounts of $$ for it.
3- you can get extended warranty. I roccomend you do so.
4- I'm sorry, but this car is defenitly not family friendly, but you could still take your kids to school with it.
hope this helps!

Agreed with all of the above, although I'll add to #4 by saying sure, you can have your wife and 2 kids in the car. It's not th softest, quietest, most luxurious ride for passengers that's all. 4 adults on a long road trip...probably not the most comfortable. Your wife and kids from time to time? No problem.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to respond to my queries.
Do you guys think that 22k miles on a 2009 C63 is a good deal? I will be adding around 10k miles every year and plan to keep it for the next 3 years.

#4 You can carry your wife and 2 kids in the back. I currently take my daughter to school in it but be aware that they might tell you to slow down sometimes (wife) or speed up (daughter). :-)
By the way, it is my daily driver and the best (most fun!!) one I've ever had to date!

it seems fine as a familiy car for me. it's the reason i got it. Then again, i'm not a big guy and neither is my wife is tiny.
It's quite abit smaller compared to the 5, so if you can live with less space in the car, the C is a great choice for a daily driver

Our C class is a great car but we feel in incredibly cramped for my family. With the child seat behind the passenger seat, I can physically not fit in the passenger seat (6'3"), which makes me the permanent designated driver there by adding to my resentment

Mine is a daily driver, 180 KM's per day. No problem at all with that distance. Also doubles as the family car. My kids are still growing at 13 & 11 so right now plenty of space for us.

thanks a lot everyone for the valuable input. after a couple of test drives and much thinking..I came to the conclusion that C63 seems a little small for me as a daily drive..
so I pulled trigger on a ML63 AMG 2009 with 15k miles..full options..sadly I have to fly out for a couple of days so wont be able to transfer till I return..I will update this thread with pictures once I am back
