E55 Top Speed

Gearing is good for around 225 with stock diff which I think is somewhat hopefull.
SLR's hit 217-220 ish , so ~360km/h ~(224mph) for the M5 is no mean feat.
I dont think an E55 would see that mark, no matter how long the road.
Lets see if they own up to it, and come forward.

...and I said a modified E55 not a stock one like e55amgrocket's car. It has the power and torque so what can the gearing do for it to reach 225mph? ...and I wasn't talking about can you do it in a distance on the public roads I said can the car do it regardless of distance, in this case assuming it has a never ending straight.
If you want forget about the E55 even, let's talk the SLR because the gearbox is the same with the same number of gears but different ratios and tuning etc so can the SLR reach 225mph and again I mean the gearing not the power or the distance of the road.

if you really want to know what speed your doing you need a gps.

How can you compare a dyno speed vs real life speed ? The wind drag is a massive load on the car something a dyno could never replicate... If you trying to work out gearing speed its just math...
I did a post on gearing on an E55 with a 2.65 and 2.82 diff its somewhere out there....
an extract
A 2.65 diff at redline in 5th gives 224 mph
A 2.82 diff at redline in 5th gives 211 mph
A 3.06 dif at redline in 5th gives 194 mph
Thats with 275/30 19's
On 265/30 18's
A 2.65 diff at redline in 5th gives 223 mph, at peak power say 6100 its 209 mph.
A 2.82 diff at 6100 in 5th gives 198 mph.
Either way I dont think you see an E55 breach 210 mph

) or you're saying the car can't do it which it can and proven mathematically by stevebez and ahmad to be true. It's ridiculous to think a manufacturer like MB would make a speedo that inaccurate. By the way I hope you're suggesting the discrepancy is only up top because good luck explaining to an officer that you were speeding or driving to slow "because the speedo throws off 30mph)

Now I never said it couldn't make 200, I said you're not going to go 225. You need 250MORE HP to go 225 than you do to go 200 and gearing wise you'd have to turn the motor way past power peak
So next time you want to stick your foot in your mouth by all means go for, just understand what's being talked about, and understand all the underlying variables and maths first
