speed sensors will read differently sometimes, most of the time they have a 2-5% difference stock, so you are still wrong that it would be at 170 at 200mph on the speedo, more like 190 at 200. even if it had a 10% discrep it would still be at 180. and honestly, unless you are ****ing with tire sizes and wheels, it shouldn't even be close to 10%

I know speedo's are usually off a few % and its worse at high speeds, but I find it VERY hard to believe that it is THAT far off. Even if you did somehow get it up to 200mph.
No ones made a high speed run with a GPS to confirm speeds? I know people have as I've seen it mentioned and its common. What I don't remember is these people talking about the speedo being way, way off.

...and I said a modified E55 not a stock one like e55amgrocket's car. It has the power and torque so what can the gearing do for it to reach 225mph? ...and I wasn't talking about can you do it in a distance on the public roads I said can the car do it regardless of distance, in this case assuming it has a never ending straight.
If you want forget about the E55 even, let's talk the SLR because the gearbox is the same with the same number of gears but different ratios and tuning etc so can the SLR reach 225mph and again I mean the gearing not the power or the distance of the road.

first off if you have a 200mph spedo then you are actually doing around 165-170 when it reads 200mph. The speedo isn't linear and I've yet to see on correctly star coded for the non linear speedo. The gearing is 32mph/1000 rpm and at high speed the chances of pulling more than peak power is slim and even then if it could pull 6K rpm that's 192mph to do 225mph you'd have to turn the motor at 7200rpm and that's not going to happen

@32mph/1000rpm and an independent reasonably accurate rpm sensor one can verify the accuracy of their own speedo.
So for the video indicating 198.4 mph the rpms topped out at 6000. That's 192 mph.

Honestly anything north of 210 is just speculation...

I want to enter one of these - but don't want to hack the crap out of my car to run... They want cages, halon systems, battery disconnects, and quite a few other "permanent mods" that would make the car unable to be daily driven...
I am talking with one of the groups that puts on these high speed runs to see if I can register my 55 for an unlimited speed, exotic, limited production class that allows stock cars to run to an unlimited speed limit, without substantial irreversible modifications. If it goes through, I will have quite a long distance to stretch her legs - think 90 miles of pretty straight road to open the taps...

to get to 200 yea.. to get to 200 in a mile? may not be enough then. I know that shelby guys have built 1000rwhp gt500s to do barely over 200 in a mile, then again they are kind of aerodynamically challenged.

Again forget about the "if" we're talking about the gearing only and if it can with this gearbox regardless of HP and not "where", because we're speaking about gearing and hypothetically assume the value of the runway is infinite.

OK so we know the E39 M5 for example can do 300km/h, are you suggesting it too has a massive discrepancy in speedo or that the E55 can barely edge ahead of a car that weighs the same yet the E55 with ALOT more torque and horsepower and better aero? I mean if you're saying this then we have to also assume that most cars are retarded. For example the GT3 RS 4.0 does over 335km/h from an NA flat-6 so you're saying it too has a speedo problem? Get real, the error probably is there but it's minimal and with any discrepancy it's always a +/- so it could actually be faster than 200mph at 200 which I'm not suggesting it is but against errors are always +/-
