SLK55 headers onto W210 E55
Just wondering why no ones has tried it? There appears to be a lot better designed long tube headers for the SLK55 then E55. It's the same engine as far as I know! Is space really that tight in the W210?

You talking about the OEM manifolds or longtubes like MHB/kleemann/others? Cause the OEM manifolds has the same crapy design. Longtubes from performance manufacturer won't fit cause the firewall in the SLK is totally different from our cars, the W210 comes with very tight space. i try the W211 kleemann headers in my car (pretty close design to the W210 and the engine is the same without the SC) and wont fit, this gave you an idea about the space in our cars

If you are referring to the OBX headers they look like stock headers and do not look like they would add any power.

im referring to the ones that are identical to the old AMS headers. I have AMS headers and the flanges aren't 100% flat. They also cracked right above where the collector is after a year of use. I got them rewelded and the flanges milled flat. They've been fine since but I haven't driven the car much after the fix.

Performance gains? ' we don't know ' As a matter of fact between 5 and 20%. Give me a break!
Are the flanges straight? ' What do you mean straight ? '
I mean not warped direct fit! ' Yes yes they are! '
I want headers and don't want to spend 1000$ for Kleemann but these are not it!
Good luck!

Awesome research, bro! I guess it's a matter of getting what you pay for!
At the price they're asking, you could probably still get the flanges milled flat and still come out on top...
I know the stock manifolds are utter crap, but I can't really see how fitting a log manifold is going to be much better!

Go for kleemanns, i'm sure you love the power increase and hi end torque delivered with this mod, i'm sure you would be pretty happy with this, specially with an X pipe and resonator deleat. Trust me, this kleemann's worth the money

Oh ya and Kleemann flanges occasionally come warped from the factory too

I bought a set of kleemann headers before I got the AMS, but they ended up being for W220. At that point I had no choice because kleemanns didn't make them for W210 anymore. Not too long after I got the AMS, kleemann started offering W210 headers again for $1000. I was not too happy about that.
The only difference is if you're worrying about passing smog because the kleemanns eliminate the primary CATs. Overall the AMS headers got me much more low end torque as well as some top end HP. The Eurocharged ECU flash helped smooth out powerband so the torque kick isn't as apparent, but its still there. Freeway cruising is fun with the headers/ECU. There is a sweet spot that the car likes to stay around making it harder to stay below 70mph.
EDIT: ok, so who bought those headers from ebay? I just looked at the auction again and its sold!

Hi W210 family!
I was wondering if headers (not stock manifolds) for the W210 E55 AMG will fit the R171 SLK55 AMG? Think of this thread in reverse
Greatly appreciated if anyone has any experience with this!
Here's the example of headers from Moscow Supercharge for the W210 (I will contact Moscow Supercharge to ask the same question to them as well)
