Mercedes SL, How Rare A Car?
Does anyone have the Mercedes SL production numbers? How many (2003-2008) SL's were made in total? How many were made just for America? Thanks in advance.

That is very common of any high end item, especially Luxury Cars. Early adapters will pay a premium to have the newest, coolest item. They are rarely considering depreciation in their purchase (and most of these cars are initially leased not owned by the first buyer). As the model wears on and is no longer the newest car on the block there is less and less interest as time goes on until the next newest model comes out. Hence the reason for "face lift" redesigns every 4 or so model years. They have to try to keep it looking fresh or sales would plummet.

The trouble is when you buy a new and expensive car it drops thousands
as soon as you drive it off the forecourt.
My 63 was 122 grand, 9 months have gone and they offered me 77 grand
part ex, makes you wanna cry.
