LEAK in Camshaft Adjuster Magnet

The plastic screw in the middle of the Camshaft Adjuster Magnet is leaking oil.
Does anyone know where I can get a new one?

I bought camshaft magnets with gasket o-ring, rubber plugs and adapter cable from Genuine Mercedes Parts (www.genuinemercedesparts.com) for $183.23 (that includes $10.99 for shipping).

2710510032 COVER (rubber plugs) 2 $1.52 x 2
2711502733 ADAPTER CABLE 2 $31.60 x 2
0109972348 SEAL RING (gaskets) 2 $5.00 x 2
2710510177 CAMSHAFT SENSORS 2 $48.00 x 2

Hope it helps

I just bought yesterday the 2 magnets, o-rings and the little rubberplugs for $105 shipped from oediscountparts.com
They are a MB dealership in NC, better prices than getmercedesparts.com which is also a dealer in MD iirc...

x2 seal ring $5.25
x2 rubber plugs $1.50
x2 camshaft magnetic sensor $45.75

Free shipping

These cam sensors will eventually leak, no two ways around that. Avoid Hamburg Technic cam sensors....

RWDlifer,

You should replace adapter cables (or harness) every time when you replace camshafts. I did replace them a few weeks ago. The old harness connectors (that were connected to the camshafts) are soaked with oil.

These are actually brand new from mercedes. Its the little rubber grommet in the middle that is leaking. I was just asking where I can get the little rubber grommet from?

Adapter wires replaced a year ago along with entire engine wiring harness and O2 sensors under mb campaign. Only one of my cam magnets are actually leaking, the other is ok but I'm gonna replace both. The adapter wires are decent.

I bought my C280 w203 2007 a day after christmas. I drove it for two day's and got a "Check Engine" light, took it to auto zone and got a code P0015 I read around this forum and it said it was probably just a magnet. Got the magnet replaced at a shop and it was $100, drove it for two weeks and light came back on, took it to a dealership and told me that the timing is off and something is wrong with the camshaft, lower control arm and also some wire harness... so now I have a car that I haven't even made a first payment and I have quotes on things that need to be done that add up to $7000 :O what should I do? any advice? I contacted MB and they are only willing to help with 10% off the cost :/ unfortually my vehicle is out of warranty, I called the dealership where I bought it and they are just avoiding me and said I should of taken my car to a mechanic before I bought it and it was sold as is with no warranty... I'm in a really tight spot.

Check the law in your state. In Georgia, for example, a car that can't pass an emissions test is the sellers problem. In Georgia, a Check Engine Light is an automatic fail of the emissions test. IANAL but from what I understand, if you bought that car in Georgia and took it for an emissions test (I think 30 days is time limit) and it failed, the dealer has to get it to pass or refund money.

You should also post the quote, line by line, here in the forum and let the experts pick it apart.

First it was the P0015 code
(Continous camshaft adjustment (right): Incorrect position of the exhaust camshaft(P0015)
Replaced right exhaust camshaft adjuster magnet- $108

SAM-F Signal acquisition and actuation module front. FAILED. MB Number:2095452801

Mechanic told me
"Tested vehicle and pulled codes for camshaft timing. Pulled camshaft plugs and confirmed timing is off on intake and exhaust camshaft. Suggest replacement of balance shaft and further inspection of inner engine. Suggest replacement of balance shaft. Vehicle timing is off. Estimated cost is $4,000 - $4,500"

MB Dealer told me
-Replace camshaft plugs and centrifuge cover. (Engine leaking oil from the rear camshaft plugs and the crankcase centrifuge cover.): Estimated cost $318
-Replace pulleys (idler pulley starting to make noise): Estimated Cost $290
-Replace and align (left control arm has a lot of play): Estimated cost $925

I'm going to take it to one of my personal mechanic back at home this weekend (I live 45 minutes away from home because of college; another reason I don't have 7000 to throw at a dealer.) I'm going to see what he says and how much it would all cost me.
