I'm looking for detailed technical information on the current model 2.3 Litre C 230 K engine on the Internet.

Of main interest to me would be cutaway drawings, photographs, details about engine design, history, other versions, etc.

I kind of thought that something similar to the MBSpy info on the new M271 1.8 Litre engine might be out there somewhere in Internet land ... but my searches thus far have been in vain.

Does anyone know a good site for this?

There's a website that has all the deep and dirty info on these engines, but you need a technician-only password to get in. I can tell you that there are different versions of the engine. It's the 111-series 4-cylinder, and it's been a 2.2 and a 2.3 liter. It's been in the '94-'97 C220, the '98 C230, the '99-present C230 Kompressor, the '98-present SLK230 Kompressor, and God knows how many other cars in Europe.

Not sure this is what you're looking for, but it's a start. Here's a link to a post I made that has some fairly good cut-away views of various c-class components, including the engine. These are not detailed technical cut-away / exploded view drawings, but they might help.

I was looking for the same type on info a while back and got no replys. I just looking for basic stuff like:

Does the 230K has variable valve timing and/or lift? Intake and/or exhaust? (I gather it has variable timing on the intake)

What's the deal with the butterfly valve just after the airbox? It seems to be a bypass around the blower. Why?
