Buying decision....
My C coupe has finally arrived. It was a long wait.
Here is the problem..
While I was waiting for the C coupe, I found 01' BMW M Coupe.
It is left over and I got a good deal on the car.
It's $6000 more than C coupe but, it is a great price for M Coupe.
I have to decided b/w these two.
Some reason I can't make up my mind..
Any ideas..
please do not flame me for this

M coupe..
I just love it, but again the C Coupe is A LOT more confortable... depends, the C Coupe is better in confort and for a logn trip, but the M Coupe is hell of a car, and is faster.. its up to you, I think I would go for the M Coupe..

I just can't get comfortable in a 3 series, especially after driving the coupe. I'ts just not the same no matter what I try.
BMW != MERCEDES.
BMW != MERCEDES.

Tough call. I guess I would be slightly hesitant with a 2001 model year. I presume it has a few miles on it, right? If so, why was it turned in. If new, why has nobody bought it. Does not make great sense.
Best regards,
CP

sounds a bit fishy to me too...
but if there is really nothing wrong with the M coupe, then I would probably look very closely at it. I would be hard pressed not to take it unless I really needed the benefit of four doors and a back seat. If you really dont need it, then the M is a steal provided nothing is wrong. It sounds a bit inexpensive for an '01 MY but if nothing is wrong then go for it. How much mileage?

oh good lord buy the M Coupe... I actually dream about that car...
according to my wife I mumble "mmmmmm coouuupe" in my sleep over and over and over.
the E36/8 is the most amazing driver's chasis ever produced for less than $100,000. it is absolutely amazing to drive. if you have ANY "speed-freak" in you, GET THE M COUPE!
(note: I drive an 2.5L Z3 roadster... I'm a bit biased)

The M coupe although unique in styling is certainly a nice car worthy of consideration but ask your self why is this 1 year old car here at the dealer for sale. They'll make up lots of BS stories but ask if you can call the previous owner. Many 1 year old cars are people that had problems and turn it in rather than mess with the lemon law. My MB dealer took my 190 in rather than face the lemon law. A friend of mine got an M3 and had lots of problems with it, many engine related problems that couldn't be repaired after several visits and sold it back to the dealer to get a C sedan and is very happy with it. I'm not saying don't get a BMW, just buyer beware on anything used, specially 1 year old cars.

Thanks for your opinions...
BTW, It is 01' left over, never been registered, with 70 miles on it.
According to the dealer, they can not return left overs to BMW. Once they bought cars from BMW NA they are stuck with it, unless they sold to another dealer. Is it true????
One thing about M Coupe is that not many people buy this car.
Everybody thinks that it's great car but, when you think about price and practicality, not many people want to buy it.
Most of owners of M coupe buy it as second car which is not the case for me!
I'm going to find more out about the M coupe. If it's nothing wrong with it then it's great chance to grap one.
hmmmm............

if speed and rarity are your only concerns, by all means strongly consider the m coupe.
if a daily driver, and a functional car are your priorities, go with the mb coupe.
as far as styling goes, and this is subjective, the M is getting tired, the car isnt very new, and has never been a very strong seller. its just kinda ugly.
and as far as buellwinkle said, i have to agree, it seems odd that bmw dealership would have a left over M coupe, with 70 miles sitting on the lot for this long. kinda odd.

first, there are quite a few left-over 2001 M coupes for sale. mainly because they are only $200 cheaper than the M Roadster that for many is prefereable as a "summer car" or "toy"
second, in places where the car is NOT a 12-month car (ie, anywhere it snows), the Roadster again appeals as a "smile" generator.
the coupe has never been a strong seller, and the styling has always been "love-it or hate-it" AND, the market for that car is small, you have to value performance over "fun" (open air), and you have to be willing to accept a compromised practicality vs. the M3.
Finally, this will be the last year of the M coupe, so it may be a good idea to snag an S54 version as they will likely surpass their sticker prices in the collector's market inside 10 years.

WRC:
1) Please go buy the M-Coupe, then...
2) Please delete this worthless thread, then...
3) Please move on to the Bimmerforums.com... Oh, and BTW...
4) Please don't come back here to complain when the problems in that particular M-Coupe surface.

as an odd note, i emailed a friend that works at a bmw dealership, and he said new m coupes are often sold well below msrp if they are a cancelation.
if you are gonna order one, its msrp, if that person doesnt take delivery, its apparently so hard to get rid of the car it goes for well below msrp. Not the most positive statement from a bmw dealership but i still think the car looks kinda cool.... like a honda civic gone criminally insane.
