Man 150 that's such a rip. There are pics on how to do it. Follow the steps and use the pics to guide you. 150 what a rip off. The only technical thing is you have to unscrew couple of screws and remove the panel just like in the picture then connect the aux wire which clicks into place.
Think of it as plugging your cell phone charger in the socket. Then hooking up the charger to your phone.
Do it yourself and save some money.

In case anyone is still wondering on installing this, here's my install tips:
I purchased 210 440 50 05 at my dealer for $37 + tax.
The white plug was right where it was supposed to be, attached to a couple other plugs.
The door sill pulls up with clips.
The door rubber pulls up.
The kick panel has a screw in the middle and has a couple of yellow clips that hold it to the metal frame - I pried the clips from the frame, not from the plastic panel.
I did not need to remove the glove box side panel because I was not going to mount the cable there (useless IMO).
I removed the plastic square inside the bottom center console storage compartment to feed the line through.
I ended up installing a 6ft radio shack 1/8" M/M cable in the same exact style that he center console storage wiring is set up. Drilled a hole through the "removable" triangle found in the top center console pocket. There were only 3 screws I believe to get access under there. Squeezed out the cable down the center console (to the carpet) and pushed it up underneath the passenger center console all the way up to the front dash area. I routed the Aux cable behind the carpet in the footwell, yet the Aux + 3.5mm cable were in an area that would not be able to be tucked under the dash due to the bulkiness of the Aux cable head. Headed back to radio shack to pick up an additional 1ft cable and F/F connector so they would be down farther enough (towards the firewall) where they could be tucked underneath the dash and footwell. Everything can be tucked away and hidden from view.
With my Ipod Nano 4G, and the volume all the way up in the settings menu, EQ off, and volume all the way up on the song, I think it sounds excellent. Just a bit louder than the other sources (until you lower the volume of course). The songs seem to have strong bass too, which the stock sub can seem disappointing at times, so that was a pleasant surprise. Mind you, Ipod EQ was off.
Def nice little upgrade, and my nano now sits just to the right of my hand whie driving.

I went ahead and ordered the part on wednesday and picked it up this morning. I got it from my local dealership and it cost me about $45. I followed the instructions on this thread and the installation went smoothly. It took me about 25 minutes to complete. Thanks for posting the instructions in this thread, they were excellent.
Also, the sound levels are fine, and this worked out so much better than the crappy fm transmitters that don't actually work as advertised.
If any fellow ny/nj members need help doing this just let me know - i'll be glad to help. Thanks.

hi guys, this post is great.
I opened my car up today and found my white cable hookup. Only problem is I didn't have a cable but the dealer (in Canada) wanted $50 plus taxes for it. I was wondering if anyone has built their own cable? Was testing the 4 wires in the connector but not exactly sure what does what? There is a yellow wire, a brown, a shiny black and a matte black. If anyone knows what wire does what (L,R, ground)? that would be great and i'll try to make my own wire and save a few bucks.
Thanks!

hey guys, this is a great diy!!
i ordered the cable harness from my mb dealer thursday and they had it for me friday morning. the install took me about 35 minutes and that's because i could not find the circle to poke out on the side of the glove box. i kept looking for it further back when it's a lot closer to the front. i was literally about to drill a hole to on the side of the glove box when i found it, lol. nonetheless everything went smoothly.
this is a very easy and very inexpensive mod! just take the time to read through the thread and you'll figure everything out. also, compare the 40 or 50 dollars you'll spend on the cable harness to a couple hundred to have someone else do it, f*** that!!
now i gotta go buy a wireless controller for my ipod!!

I made my own cable up last week with a 3.5mm Jack to spade connectors with heat shrink insulation etc. Works a treat.
Can't remember the which color was L,R and Gnd but its easy to experiment and find out for yourself whilst playing audio into the system.
I remember one of the wires was just shield for the wire (may of been black) and that wire was not used.

Confused about part number
I'm confused as to which part number to order. I have a 2006 c230. In other posts it says to use p/n 210-440-50-05 but it's different in this post. Please let me know the correct p/n. Thanks

yes after you upgrade to the the nav you can get a cable to do aux input. or if you search you can find out how to open your radio and add aux to it. and if you don't read how the hell are you going to learn anything about your car. next time read because this forum does not like newbies that don't search or read before posting.

Yeah I noticed already quite a few times about this forum and noobs not searching. I stopped reading the 25 page thread when it got off topic.
I Learned quite a bit about installing this cable in a 2005 and had no idea if anyone even mentioned doing this in a 2002. Maybe I will just start a new thread lol

i understand how you feel its hard to read through everything..... but...........
you can search for keywords in each specific thread and that way you dont have to read through every page, it really makes it a lot easier!! click 'search this thread' and look up whatever you want like "2002"... hope that helps...

Comand 2 2002 on
I scanned most of the post and see that many cannot find where the end plug on the AUX cable plugs in.
You can wire it in direct to the C2 socket on the rear of the comand 2
Pin 4 right hot
pin 5 right ground
pin 13 left hot
pin 14 ground

Will this work for an '02 C240 without a cd-changer? I have the stock audio system.
EDIT: NEVER MIND. I MISREAD THE THREAD AND THOUGHT IT WAS ONLY 1 PAGE LONG. FOUND THE ANSWER!

Well here's a picture of my AUX line i rerouted it behind the center command console and put the input right by the ashtray. Personally I didn't like the AUX cord all over my passenger seat of my car. Overall I think it looks cleaner. If enough people request for pictures and step by step instructions i'll eventually post a thread.

Is there an ACTUAL ipod interface for these cars or just the audio in? The last car I had you could hook up the ipod to the sync port not just the audio jack and it charged it and played music and could be controlled through the stereo, anything like that for us?
