I've never seen that dash display before. Is that what's in the non-MM cars?
That looks like a good alternative if you didn't get the factory MM system. Does the factory system not have traffic info in the US? I have traffic info on mine, but it's pretty standard in Japan. It can be a real time (and frustration) saver. It's great to drive around traffic jams instead of getting stuck in 'em.

I've seen an option on Canadian W204's in the 2nd half of the 2009 production range that looks like this, but it is $375 on top of the COMAND (what Americans call MM) and gives you USB, aux-in and iPod control using COMAND. Is it the same thing, only retrofitted to the smaller screen?

looks really promising. I'm definitely interested especially if you can play DVDs.
I avoided the Nav option not because of cost but also the chance of the pop up Nav breaking down.
I actually like my non MM LCD display, it's better than not having a display at all. I really hate the ancient looking one-line orange digital stereo display on the BMW 3-series.

Does this mean that those of us with COMMAND (MM Multimedia Package) can soon pay only about $375 (assuming Canadian $) to get the UMI installed? Sounds logical since $1800 is for the UMI for cars without a COMMAND/MM Package, but for those of us with the COMMAND/MM Package the $300 range would provide just the addition of USB and iPod controls via the COMMAND.
I wonder when this option or interface will be available for sale - I just bought the old iPod interface (the one that displays on the instrument cluster), maybe I should have waited...

I'm going to call a Mercedes dealer in Canada in the morning to see if I can buy the interface. But I'm not sure why only Canada seems to have this as an option and not other countries. For example, the US site still only has the iPod interface on their site and brochure as opposed to the Media interface with USB and iPod controls on the Command.
In any case, if I can buy the Media Interface from Mercedes Canada, I can FINALLY control my iPod on my Command screen!!!

X3 and 2012 C coming soon
My dealership is sending me a brochure. Last week they told me it is $2500.00 installed. I heard it's not that difficult to install. I think the dealership is a bit high on the install.

I happened to grab a brochure of the UMI kit too when I visited my dealer. I could scan and post it but none of you would understand more than the figures from it.
Installation isn't extremely complicated but is estimated to take a few hours anyway, was it actually four hours. One has to remove the head unit and install the speaker and the actual control unit plus version coding the cluster and some other stuff.

2500 is kind of high but my dealership said it would be 16** for the unit if they are @ 100hr that means 7 1/2 hours of install time leaves room for tax.... so in think it should be 2100 to 2150 not real sure just thinking out loud

I just contacted a Mercedes dealership in Canada and apparently they got information on the new Media Interface yesterday so they are trying to sort things out. I should have more information very soon...
