yeah, why do the MM owners get screwed? I have MM and i want traffic too! Also, doesnt the UMI allow the driver to control thier Ipod right through the screen & not through the dash console/instrument cluster?

i'm sorry, I must be missing something, $1900 for?

ipod kit, $450... i think most of cars are purchased with this.

louder sound with aux or ipod: amp via warranty... some have gotten free.

navi? get a $400 garmin?

only positive I can think of is control ipod via the screen, not instrument cluster and the FM live traffic.

but if I was in the market now, I would just get the mm to start with, better sound system too.

It's for Navi, iPod and Video to be played in the factory screen for those that didn't get the MM package. I'm not a big fan of the navi's that hang off the windshield, I like the OEM look like this provides.

I agree 100%. I don't mind if someone else puts preference for cost but they should equally understand us having different preferences.

The US/Canadian cost however sounds high compared to the Euro price. Usually US prices are about the same our prices in Euros but the Euro device seems significantly less expensive this time.

I would like to see a full installation story though. One should get the cluster display with this one too. It should not come automatically while the cluster should be SCN coded.

There is a Euro version, and according to this post, a US/Canadian one too. I have not seen the US part numbers, could be the same device with different map data, could be a different part too.

Can't speak for everyone, but I hated the popup screen. Too high and was an eyesore. I've always been one for smooth dash. Even the current non-mm screen isn't that great cause of that cover. They should have just integrated the screen to the front console like the other mercedes models and be done with it. Was going to go with a DD setup like got_thang, but this might be a reasonable alternative. And the Harman Kardon system isn't that great. I'd rather just spring for the C63 Bang & Olufsen sound system upgrade or do something more custom.

I would have to agree with you for the non-MM screen (it should have no needed a cover) but I would have to disagree with you for the MM screen. Everytime it popups it amazes everybody in the car. (Like a james bond type mechanism) Plus when the car is off it's then hidden. (Good for security wise)

yeah thats true but the non-MM is screen is down right embarrassing!
i think you'd be into this then. but even thats not for me i would like a compromise in between, just cause id hate to have the MM screen motor break and your left with nothing.

Don't get me wrong, I do respect people's preferrences. I just didn't see the value (and vs MM package.) so I asked for feedback.

I also realized its for people who didn't get MM to begin with, sort of like a second chance huh?

I've never seen that dash display before. Is that what's in the non-MM cars?

That looks like a good alternative if you didn't get the factory MM system. Does the factory system not have traffic info in the US? I have traffic info on mine, but it's pretty standard in Japan. It can be a real time (and frustration) saver. It's great to drive around traffic jams instead of getting stuck in 'em.

Good point. I see that other MB models with COMAND like ML have available Nav Traffic through Sirius. Could the MM package handle live traffic, and if so, why isnt it offered on the MM?
