I am also really interested in locating a dash kit for this car. Does anyone know?
I've only seen custom installations so far: http://www.mbworld.org/forums/c-clas...installed.html |

I looked into this over six months ago and there really isn't any aftermarket option... It's even a huge pain to just change out the speakers in this car but do-able. I wouldn't mess with tearing into the dash, it's too integrated of a system and it will end up looking bad. Your best bet would be to upgrade the speakers and add a sub/amp. I have the base system and the power is good but speakers are cheapo. This is my first German car and stereo/tech. seem to be an afterthough at least on the base systems.

got_thang swapped his out for double din. Most aftermarket radio shops can whip you up a bezel that will fit well.

Alright, I'm pulling the trigger. Found a great place to build the custom dash kit for the unit.
I'm going with this Pioneer... I've weighed the pros and cons of both options for weeks (Comand retrofit vs. aftermarket)... and I just can't see myself paying upwards of $2k for a mediocre system (not to mention all the installation headaches). If I want to sell the ride, I'll just replace the factory stuff.. done deal. I'll post pics when the installation is complete! |

The stock Audio 20 is actually a decent unit sonically and distortion wise. Its the speakers that are so lame. You will lose control of volume and station selection from the steering wheel, bluetooth integration, volume reduction with lowered speed, and access to the engineering menu. Make sure you get the software update from the MB dealer (free) for the Audio 20 ROM.
In any case you WILL ABSOLUTELY need new speakers, here is the thread for an upgrade to speakers, recommended are the Infinity Kappas. W204 Third Party Component Speaker Upgrade |
