Blue liquid all over the engine compartment
I noticed this a few times before but didn't take much notice of it at first. There seems to be a blue liquid all over the top of the engine bay. It's pooled a little on the engine cover and seems to be sprayed around from front to back.
You can even see it in the dealer photo from before I got the car.
My guess would be washer fluid.

Blue liquid...
Unfortunately, I would recommend to clean it as thorough as possible and run the car all day and check it next day. If it shows again at places were you cleaned, you definitely have a leak somewhere!!! If NOT, it is what some dealers use to "detail" engines and with the heat it turns like a greasy/oily film or puddle. Just my .02cents!

Thank you. I think it may actually be from detailing. It looks freshly wet but just kind of sticks there. The hydraulic fluid is a different color.
They did a poor job overall on the detailing. On the interior the grime was mostly spread around and mixed with the cleaning agents. I had to buff it all out myself.
Luckily, I like detailing engines. So I got it all cleaned up. I'm thinking they may have sprayed in whatever detergents they use and then didn't rinse it out. Everything was just slimy under the hood. It really did feel like oil of some kind.

Best to check all your fluid levels just in case especially brake fluid & power steering.
Check caps also for tightness & leaks.

Thanks, so far so good. The brake fluid, which was my original suspect, is a different color. I'm almost positive it was sloppy detailing. It's just weird to find your entire engine bay covered in a blue oily substance.

Since there are some knowledgeable people here, what is the purpose of that round fan like thing on the side of the engine cover? There is nothing under there but the heat shield. Is it just to look cool? lol

The only liquids in the car that are blue (or close to) is the coolant, washer fluid, and transmission fluid (7G+).
Not sure about the round thing, not familiar with that engine. But it could just be for looks, I've seen that done before lol

The round thing is rather weird, lol. I think it would look better without it there. I was trying to figure if it was there to allowe some sort of air circulation over the heat shield.
It actually makes it a little harder to yank the cover off.
But after I cleaned the engine bay it has remained clean in there. It's funny a few posters knew what this was. It must happen enough from time to time at dealerships.
