Discovered - Rear view mirror for backup

, I just got my C400 not too long ago and want to share things we may not already know.

If you get in reverse and press right side mirror to adjust to see your rear right wheel when parallel parking, it will remember it for next time and tilt back up to normal shortly after you drive forward.

Leave adjustment on left side mirror if you want tilt, click right side mirror if you don't want tilt.

Enjoy.

My 2013 w204 does this as well, It's a great feature . I use it to my advantage all the time!

BTW, congrats on an amazing car...I'll have to wait until there's a cpo version, but I want!

ugh, I guess they only added it to the W204 after the mid cycle refresh because my 09 does not do this and it irked me when I first got it

I sometimes wish it did it on the drivers side too, since I live in a city with 1 way streets. But it is easy to turn off while backing up if you dont want it, just press the left mirror button and the right one will go back to normal

I was wondered why drivers side didnt tilt.. i guess people at MB thought it would be better to stick out your head out of the window . While owning MB i was kinda stunned on how overengineered these cars are.. and yet car has some wired aspects.

Yeah I as told that is because most people parallel park on the right side. It's only an issue with areas that have one way streets where you can do it on both sides. A work around if you ever want it is to program one of your seat settings to move the drivers mirror

About wired aspect.. How about rear auto folding headrests.. MB made a special button for it which folds rear headrest but you cant unfold them back with that special button.

C220 AMG Line Premium Plus (W205)
Cars with memory seats have it. The ones without don't.

I had a loaner new c180 and went mad trying to figure out how to do it to protect the alloys when I park! It didn't have memory seats so wasn't possible.

On the up side my w205 is here... See other post

I might be mistaken here, but doesn't whichever mirror you adjust, when in reverse, remember it's location the next time you are in reverse, as long as it's "selected"? (hence the left and right are available for adjustment?)

when the left button is active in reverse, most people don't adjust the driver's mirror down, hence it stays in its current location, and neither mirror moves. with the right button active, the reverse adjusted mirror moves to its position until set into drive.

i could've sworn the drivers side does it too, but didn't adjust it in reverse because i thought it would become annoying

try this....adjust your drivers side mirror down while in reverse and the left button is selected. leave the left selected for the next time you are in reverse
