C450 Discount Question

So I recently drove a C450 and loved it. I am ready to negotiate on the price and have read a few posts here stating that getting 5-6% off MSRP is a reasonable expectation. I qualify for the AICPA program (I think it's the fleet program) which gives me $2k off MSRP. My question is should I expect that $2k off above the 5-6% negotiated price or is it unreasonable to expect that much to be taken off MSRP?

The car I am looking at has an MSRP of ~$59k, is it reasonable to expect $5k to $5.5k off that price?

Thank you all in advance for your help!!!

That's correct the total off should be 5-7% I've seen. I didn't have fleet pricing so all I could get off was )2000-2500.

Thanks! I figured as much. The first offer the dealer made to me was $1k on top of the $2k fleet pricing, but I figured I'd check here to see what kind of deals people are making on this vehicle.

I had one of the original 450 deliveries on an ordered basis and got $2,000 off from dealer, plus the ABA discount of $2,000.

I don't know what the C450 is going for now below MSRP, but remember the fleet discount should not factor into your dealer price negotiation. It is a corporate perk that is subsidized by MB corporate and the dealer gets that money back. The MB fleet website/link states to negotiate your best deal, then inform them of the fleet discount. I leased my last 2 C300's using the fleet discount (2013 & 2015).

I know this does not directly answer the 5%-6% off question, but just a comment on my experience with the fleet discount. I got a $2,500 fleet discount off my 2015 C300 which was a surprise because the MB site still listed the discount as only $500 for the 2015 MY. I do see the $2,000 for the 2016 MY on the form.

Good luck and enjoy your C450 when you get it... so jealous!

Basically MSRP on the car I ordered was around $59. I got 2K off which is 3.3%> had I qualified for another 2K off then it would have been 6.7% off the MSRP. I think that is what you are looking for. I think the combined discount could be $2500-$3000 + $2000 or more fleet discount. You should at least get $2,000 off MSRP regardless before anything else.

Yes this is what I'm looking for. Thanks to all that responded. The last time a bought a car was in 2007, so I haven't negotiated for a car in a while. I wanted good input and got some good responses. I'll be negotiating this weekend and will try to get the best possible price, but this was helpful. Thanks again guys.

I do not have a fleet discount, so can't help with the question on combining that with the negotiated price, but I got 6% off MSRP on a preordered C450, which in my case was a bit over $4000. Somebody here reported on getting 8% off, but I set my mind on 6%, so I stopped negotiating after getting that.

10% off is possible, but you have to be a good negotiator and not deal with their garbage. Try a number of local to semi local dealerships, as you move to the outskirts, dealers are more willing to negotiate. Ask for out the door price which includes destination and taxes. Good luck.

That's all I could get in Houston. The first dealer said no discount, second said $1,000, third said $2,000.

I got 9,7% after a tough nego. I'm not in the US but in Europe, the C450 is MUCH more expensive here (EUR 65K without options, 80K+with the usual options)

I'm starting to get prices on a C450 that lists for $62,500 that would most likely need to be ordered. I'm going to aim for 8% off, but no one is biting yet. Best I can get is 5% off. Any ideas for dealers to try in California? Thanks

Hi

I just ordered a C450 (msrp 63,325) and was able to get 8% off. That did include the AMA discount of $2000.

Hope you're able to get them to bend a little more in CA. I'm in NJ.

I don't have any discounts that I'm aware of. Wish I did.

I managed to get 8.5% off before the 2000$ Fleet discount I had.. so about 12% all in..I think they are going to be dealing even more right now - war, ISIS, etc..

Question for you guys. Are any of you leasing? and if so, what are the residual values that have been quoted for the c450? Thinking about do an early lease termination with my c350 and jumping into a c450. Looking to see what lease rates are before contacting dealers. My local stealerships are high, so I am thinking about shopping my deal around to the competing DMV dealerships.

I've gotten a lease residual of 60% at end of 36 month lease through MBFS.
Money factor of 0.00230. Seems high, but there are currently no MB subsidized lease specials on the C450.

Thanks for the reply YPD485.... The Money Factor is a bit high but, I will wait a couple more months to see if there are any incentives.

The funny thing is with discounts and everything, I am pricing the c450 cheaper than what I paid for my c350 new in 2013. If I can get my payments around the same price, I will definitely be parting out early 2016.

Really is fascinating how MB messes with things in different markets. Prices in Canada, dollar adjusted, seem lower, discounts in the US are way higher but the residual and money factor are better in Canada (I have 69% residual for 39 months with low miles and a 3.9% interest rate - which is a 0.00162 money factor, through MBFS). Makes it very difficult to compare deals across markets when leasing.

Of course, since we pay 13% sales tax in Ontario, pretty much anything you get in the States is a better deal...
