Throttle body
Newbie here! Just cleaned the throttle body and elbow and car is still idling at approx. 500 rpm and a bit rough. I have to admit that I did not remove the throttle body but cleaned it in place. What should I look at next?

Was it idling rough before you sprayed the TB with cleaner?
500rpm idle in Neutral or Drive?
How long have you had the car?

Rough Idle
I've had the car about 2 weeks and all indications is that the previous owner hit all the service intervals.

My car @ 104,000 idles a little "rough" at 500rpms before it is really warmed up and then it cleans up.
One thing to check is to pop the hood, put your foot firm on the brake, put into Drive and give it a little gas, if the motor rises up out of the engine bay more than just a little it could be a bad motor mount. Also check the transmission mount.
What was your last car?

MBWorld Fanatic!
Spark plugs/wires/coils could be weak, they don't last forever on these cars. Pull a plug or two and see if they are still within spec on the gaps, if they've started to erode replace them and the wires, check that all coils are free of oil.
Definitely check the engine mounts though, they fail all the time on these cars and result in a rough feeling idle even at the proper RPM.

+1 for Motor mount, 500rpm in drive is normal.
the rough feeling is from the motor mounts, I had to keep putting my car into P or N when stopped at traffic lights because of the roughness of the idle.
changed motor mounts and trans mount (thought I would do all at once) problem went away, still kept low idle, but it wasn't rough at all.
these V8's have a decent amount of torque, its not surprising that the engine mounts tend to wear out, plus yours probably hasn't been changed.

Thanks for all the inputs. I will do the test to see if the motor mounts are the culprits. I thought the low idle was the problem but from what I'm hearing 500 rpm is relatively normal.
