C43 Broken mirror on passenger side
This will be the second time this has happened but I bumped into it this time and the plastic latch that holds the spring has broken. I cannot believe how easy it is to break one of these! The stealership has quoted me $441 for the mirror but is there a website with a better price or a DIY fix for this. I searched but could not find anything for the C43. Thanks

Thanks guys, using the W202 made a big difference. I am very glad I found this active site. This DIY will save me a lot of $$$. I will be going to Lowes to buy a small hook. Thanks again!

The links show where the W210 fails. In my experience, the W202 mirror fails at the opposite end, at the hook cast into the base that screws to the door. Some have fixed this by inserting an eye bolt into the hollow center of the hook casting and securing it with a washer and nut. Once you have the mirror cover off it should be obvious what you need to fix it.

Yep, that is how I fixed it. I bought a couple of washers and nuts and inserted the eye bolt where the plastic hook had broken. Better than new now!

I used a zip tie on mine. Not quite as tight as new, but not noticeable unless you are messing with the mirror.

this just happened to me! i was washing the car and i usually push the mirror housing to let water drain out and the thing just busted off
as mentioned above i used an eye-bolt, some washers and a nut to get it back together again. the photos in the initial post for this thread aren't all that helpful for how it broke on mine.
that damn spring in the mirrors is waaaay too strong for its purpose IMO, thats why peoples clips for the spring are breaking off. the spring is too strong or just outlasting the hardware it was attached too :roll eyes:
but yes this was an easy $4 fix and to be honest it only took me about 30 mins total once i actually understood how to fix it. $4 is better than $80, which was the cheapest i saw a new mirror assembly on eBay, or $250 for a brand new assembly off pelican or wherever else.
