Winter tyres + snow chains
Occasionally snow chains are obligatory in the alps.
In the AMG C63s T-model, 245s are proposed with snow chains; is it the same with the Sedan-model? I guess that with 265s there is not enough space for the chains?

Sure, but you don't HAVE to. It all depends on the kind of winter conditions you get. Square setup, or really skinnier tires helps cut through deep snow. But for milder winter conditions, a normally sized setup with performance winters makes the car drive a lot better in light snow conditions.

2014 Porsche Boxster S, 2016 C63S
Has anyone had any luck finding snow tires for the S? I am looking around the internet and there does not seem to be any snow tires available just yet? I am going to purchase new wheels for the 2016 which is being built end of October. Can I put smaller wheels (18" square set up on this car?) or do I need to just purchase a square set up configuring to the size of the front wheels? I wonder if I will get better traction with a smaller wheel set up-18" vs 19". Anyone have any experience in this area? Also, any thoughts on best snow tires for the C63?

2015 C63S E1 (sold 2012 C63 AMG Sedan (Premium & APX)) & 09 C300 Sport 4Matic
For the W205 C63S 19" wheels car
Pirelli Sotozero II has our sizes for winter
Other Options
Michelin PA4 Winter Tire
245/35R19 Front , same as stock
255/40R19 Rear (Speedo too slow by 2.69%) Diameter variance 2.77% larger
or
285/35/19 Rear (Speedo 2.05 too slow) Diameter variance 2.10% larger
OR
Bridgestone Blizzark LM-32
265/35R19 Rear, same as stock
255/35R19 Front (Speedo too slow by 1.06%) Diameter variance 1.07% smaller
Or use 235/40R19 Front , same diameter as as 245/35
Or you can use same size all around 235/40R19 for winter
It harder to find a set of winter wheels so as to avoid damaging the expensive OEMs.
In Canada I found
Braelin BR-06 Mat Black or Silver
19x8.5 ET45 rear (will stick out a mere 11mm and ET35 fronts.
http://www.braelin.ca/
Mercedes recommend the following wheels BUT they are outrageously priced
204-401-26-00-7X71 (black) or 7X21 (Grey) for Rear is 9x19 ET54 (stock is ET56) will work
204-401-25-00-7X71 (black) or &x21 (Grey) for Front is 8x19 ET45 (stock is ET38) will work

Does anyone know a good winter tire that can fit on the stock 19 inch rim? I did some quick research and it seems that Blizzaks WS80 don't come in the right size.
My friend recommended me a Blizzak LM32 which does come in the right size.
Any thoughts?
Also, what width should I run my tires? Standard 245-265? Or is 245 all around better?

Outrageously Priced
Just talked to Mercedes today...
As set of Mercedes wheels with Pirelli Sottozero Tires is $8400!
I as well can only find Pirelli Sottozero tires to fit the stock tire set up.
Currently waiting on some pricing for BBS CH-R wheels, will most likely run a boxed set up with Nokian Hakapallita 8 studded tires (best tires out there by far! - no need for chains)
Too bad APEX doesn't make wheels for Mercedes... Good forged wheels at a very reasonable price in comparison to all these other forged wheelsets out there.
If anyone out there knows of decently priced forged wheels (less than 600ea) let me know!
Thanks

Hey Everyone,
I've done a little more digging and sent an email over to VMR.
Looks like they have a nice set of flow formed forged wheels... almost like forged wheels but without the big price tag. Durable and light weight.
Have a look.
http://www.velocitymotoring.com/vmr-wheels/
Using the following website:
http://www.willtheyfit.com/
Looks like we can run a 19 x 8.5 ET35 in the rear and it would be close to perfect... Maybe even a little more aggressive than stock. The rear will stick out ~8.3mm further than where it sits right now.
I hoping to run a set of the VMR V-803 wheels with 255/35R19 Nokian Hakkapeliitta 8 studded winter tires. Should be a perfect set up for the winter... Going to run them all around, I know... a little bigger than the 245 in the front, but on a 8.5" wheel, the contact patch really doesn't change much.
On a side note: Looks like my rear rim is bent!!! It has been shaking on me a bit for a couple weeks now. I don't really recall hitting a pot hole... or anything of the sort that would bend a forged rim! I'm hoping they can fix it. If not a new Edition 1 wheel is $2200 bucks!!!
JPMBenz, can you get one for cheaper and ship it up? Haha.

2015 Mercedes C63 S AMG
Please let us know what VMR comes back with because TireRack doesn't have any updates on when they might have a vehicle in to measure up. I would love to have winter wheels in before actual winter!
Did you get wheel insurance from the dealer? If so, it should cover the damage.

I am still having a hard time finding a winter tire/wheel set up for the C63S. Tire rack has nothing to offer. VMR states: "When working with Mercedes Benz vehicles, especially AMG cars, I've always found fitment to be a bit tricky. This is primarily due to the upgraded brakes on AMG vehicles but also Mercedes Benz vehicles typically have hubs which extend out, causing fitment issues with our center caps." Has anyone actually found a wheel/winter tire combo that fits on this car?? If so, please share. Thanks much.

I'm still working with VMR. It may be tough because of the size of the brakes. I don't think or wheels have a stepped barrel rim, and I would check but my car is currently at Mercedes... I also have the Carbon Ceramics so it may be a bit harder for those who do.
I've had another company tell me that the following wheels will work.
- Mandrus Rotec, Atlas and Arrow
Take a look at the following website. The wheels are flow formed forged and match some of the Mercedes OEM wheels.
http://www.mandruswheels.com/
Sounds like tires with Michelin PA4 or the Pirelli Sottozero II are around 3400 to 3600, respectively. Not sure if they had TPMS included.
Working on more options! Hang tight.

I want to get your expert opinions .... I have W205 (C300 4 martic Sedan) .... I'm looking for winter tire+ wheels. The manual suggests front 225/45R8 and rear 245 40 R18 for tires in general
I checked with the dealer and they are selling 225 50R17. The question is will install square setup hurt the 4 matic?
I think I'm going to go with the size the dealer is selling 225 50 R17 but after market. They are expensive.
