Service A with MHP longtube headers and ECU

Hello, has anyone taken their car in for Service with longtube headers and a tune? My car has about 60 days left until it is due for its service A. I am just curious as to what the dealer is gonna say, or if they will void my warranty. Anyone with experience or advice?

That's a tough call and there is only one way to find that out. The best way to handle these warranty situations is to start a relationship with a tech at the dealer before you do any mods. Maybe, if your lucky, you can get friendly with a tech that has been there a long time because that tech will probably be there for a long time.

Young techs tend to move from dealership to dealership thinking the grass is always greener on the other side. You start a relationship with a young tech that takes care of you and the next time you go to the dealer he's gone.

Good luck, hope they don't pull anything like voiding your warranty when you go in for service. Be nice to the service writer and try and get to know your tech.

they CANT issue a status 8 unless something is broken that they can DIRECTLY attribute to your mods as the cause. Just drop the car off and don't say anything. If they want to start some sort of dialogue about it, let them. In other words, why try to diffuse a bomb thats already gone off?

They wont void your warranty. Not until you have a mechanical problem and they blame the mods on it. Then they will void it or make you pay out of pocket for the fix. That is if you go to a dealer that isn't mod friendly.

Id be more worried about passing emissions...

The simple answer is not to take it to the dealership for a simple Service A. Find yourself an independent MB shop, or just change the oil yourself. It's so easy a caveman can do it.

Thanks for all of the replies. Does anyone know of any mod friendly dealerships in MD? I can definitely change the oil myself, I just want things like that to be documented. In case I ever decide to sell the car down the road or trade it in. I bought a spare ECU for my car to put the tune on. I had to take my car to the dealership to have it programed to the car, They never asked a word as to why I wanted/needed a spare one. Should I put my stock ECU back in before I get there?

I would imagine that the stock file with headers and cat deletes would make the car run really bad.

The documentation part is quite simple. Go buy yourself 9 quarts of oil and a M156 oil filter. Save the receipts. Note it in a little notebook that you changed the oil on what day and how many miles. Your receipts are your documentation along with your notes.

I like my MB mechanic. Takes care of me with price and service. He has a shop where he specializes in MB.

I would think you're okay since you're going in for service/maintenance not for a warranty claim or getting a problem looked at.

I also have to take my car into MB dealer soon (i have not taken my car yet only 5,000 miles) and I have a Fluid MotorUnion's Midsection, and i also plan to ECU tune and put Kleemann manifolds before I go in for service.

From what I understand because of the Magnuson-Moss Act of 1975 they can not void you warranty. Here are some links with more info, hope this helps!
