s65 and the M156
I'd like to preface this by saying, I'am already sold on getting a c63 at the end of the year. It was between that or the E90M3.
Now, up until about 3 months ago i made that decision. I was browsing E90post, reading about the M3 etc.. And a couple of weeks ago i started seeing threads pop up about s65 failures etc.. (I guess it's about that time for serious problems to start surfacing since the e9xM has been out since 08)
So with that being said, has the m156 had any MAJOR mechanical problems so far? Which motor actually has the better overall build quality? The only thing i've come across so far is very minor things, nothing i would worry about when if out of warranty. The M3's potential issues make my stomach turn honestly..

And to be clear as day, please LEAVE the modded motors out of this. I mean completely stock.

Yes, but I consider it a major problem and not something I would want to be caught paying for out of warranty.
This has plagued BMW (cough, s54)
What is the weak point of the m156, that's what I'm trying to find out

M156 has no specific weak point that I have heard of. Its been around since 2006 and is used in 9 or so of AMG's cars.
Guys on here have been pushing them pretty damn hard too with FI and Nitrous.
I've heard some stories from my MB tech friend that Vancouver has had a couple blow up, but its been very seldom.

Good to know, that's why I think I've leaned more towards the AMG. It's more widely used, so it should be less problematic (or so i like to think)
And yea, every motor will eventually go kaboom, it's just the re-occurring M3 issues are ridiculous.
