^^^ the link worked for me.

This is going to be interesting. Have any members experienced this problem with the 6.3?

I read through the first few pages...it talks about the ticking noise that can be heard from these engines.

It claims far more than that, he had to perform thousands of dollars in repairs and took a bath on the trade. I'm still new to the board, but has anybody had a major issue with their 6.3?

Every company has issues or class action suits. If this problem is pervasive hopefully this lawsuit will result in monetary compensation, a recall or some sort of extended warranty. I will call tomorrow to get in on the class if possible. I doubt that I will have my car past 60k miles though.

I talked to somebody at that office today and they said they have not added any other plaintiffs to the class yet. But she took my name, address and number and will advise when they open it up. I am not for frivolous suits, but if there was true negligence here I want my car and financial interests protected.

Glad I sold my c63 after a month. Have heard these engines are prone to detonation, know of a few examples this has already happened.

Your interests will only need to be protected if you have a problem with the engine.

I'm just pissed that I didnt think of the case first!

Well the only time your going to know there is a problem is when your engine goes...BOOM!...too late then, or if they indeed determine there is a defective part.

If there is a defective issue there may be a mass recall, case in point, Toyota. What concerns me is the toyota issue was a minor part albeit serious. Here from what I understand it is the engine components themselves, could get very costly for MB.

I have 80k trouble free miles on the engine.

Now, can someone tell me where the SN is on the engine so I can see if it is in the range the suit alleges. Thanks.

Yes that's exactly the point, although if this gets enough press we all could lose a significant amount of money when selling or trading the car as well, even if the car is flawless.

MB has fixed the problem on the newer engines ('09 and up I believe). Metallurgy problems between the cams and lifters caused the lifters to go bad.
