C63 or GTR?
Hello All!
I'm 16, I have a well paying job, (company actually), I have my student pilot permit (I've soloed and just waiting to turn 17) and I'm looking for my first car. This will be my DD so I need to be able to use it throughout all 4 seasons (Canadian winters tend to be harsh).
I'm stuck between choosing either the GTR or C63 507 Sedan (a distant dealer has one on his lot ready to go).
I was really close to pulling the trigger on the 507 yesterday but my email server was down so I didn't get the final quote and now it's Sunday (dealership's closed). As I was browsing through YouTube, I came upon this video of the GTR:
. It reignited past memories and dreams of getting the GTR and now I can't decide which one to get .
I'd get both, but at my age and in my particular situation, that'd be a stupid investment.
Looking for some feed back on this topic. I know of a lot of you guys own a C63, some a GTR and even few both. I know this is a MB forum, however, please try and be as unbiased as you can . Any feedback would be much appreciated.
I'll just be using the vehicle to drive around the city, go to school, a few meetings, the office and screw around with my friends.
Regards.

Black C63 507 Coupe
The 507 is a fun car to drive (just got mine a few weeks back) but so is the GTR. Canada winter wise - GTR wont' make it around town and will be a lot more in maintenance dollars.
My last car was a 2012 Evo MR. you should look into that. suits your age better and is a good way to learn how to handle 500+ hp and still drive in the winter.

If it's just for tooling around and having a little fun here and there:
C63
And a 507 wouldn't be a bad choice!!

I remember my first car was a ford fiesta when i got my license back in 1994! lol!
Don't take it personal but i don't understand how people can think of a sports car as their first driving experience. I've seen so many threads of members looking to buy a c63 or similar to their son/daughter as a first car. It might just be me but i find it irresponsible. There is too much power in this car for a new driver. Any slight mistakes could be fatal. I'm not saying new drivers will automatically make mistakes but there is always a learning phase.
Now back to OP, I would choose the C63 sedan as it is a 4 doors and more practical as a daily driver. The GTR is a fast car and can be used as a week end/track toy. 2 different budget too.

Don't get either as your first car. I'm sure you're responsible and mature beyond your years but the temptation to show off in front of your friends could prove to be disastrous.
Both of those cars have a lot of power. I'm all for first-time drivers getting nice, safe, cars. But a 500+ horsepower car as a first? That's begging for trouble, IMHO.
Get something more practical and save your money.

I had a similar dilemma when I turned 16. For me it was between the Veyron and the Enzo. I decided to get both. Now for my 17th birthday, I intend to get really crazy!

I wouldn't think the GTR is so much better as a winter car. I mean yes it has FWD, but I'm sure the ground clearance sucks, which is critical in heavy snow. And I've heard rumors about maintenance being insanely expensive on it, not sure how reliable it is..
RWD in the snow will teach you how to drive too
However I concur with the others. 500hp at 16 yo is way too much! I had a 180hp A3 when I was 21 and I was already going crazy in it. If you ever buy one, get the AMG performance training in both seasons, and don't ever fool yourself into believing you're a racing driver

In any event, there is no transitive property in this situation.

People are trying to help you out. You probably learned on a Cessna or something. Same principle. And I fly F-18s worth $65 million...and the C63 still catches me off guard sometimes, even after going 650 knots at 100 feet or 1.4 IMN out of 40k...learn on something slower so you can "stay ahead of the jet" until you get some experience.

At first I was like and then I .
I raced 125cc "dirt" bikes when I was younger (back when 2-stroke motors were the business and 4-stroke motors were for trail-riding sissies ).
Now these things weren't super fast by any means, but they're plenty dangerous when you're out at the track going over 100-ft table tops.
I'm not afraid/ashamed to say that in no way did my experience with these bikes prepare me for driving a "performance" car.

That's awesome. Good for you. And I mean that sincerely. I can't fly.
As I said in my previous post, based upon your conduct here on the board, it seems as if you've got a good head on your shoulders. I'm not one of those guys that believes teenagers shouldn't get "nice" cars. I think luxury cars are a great option because they're usually pretty safe (although that doesn't convince the insurance companies to lower their premiums any).
That said, flying a plane by yourself doesn't really compare to driving a 500+ horsepower car in traffic. I wouldn't want my 16-year-old son piloting a 500+ horsepower RWD car (potentially with 4 additional passengers) in poor weather conditions. Too many variables (including other drivers on the road).
Driving experience is an asset when behind the wheel of a powerful car. I've never had a ticket and have always considered myself a safe driver but there was no way I was as skilled at 16 as I am now. And I'm sure I still have a hell of a lot to learn.

Nice to see a fellow pilot on these forums . I came here for help and I got it. I had an r6 this past summer, but ended up selling it after a couple of days. It was nowhere in comparison to the CBR125's I rode during my riding courses. I assumed it would be different with cagers but that does not seem like it now. I guess I'm just trying to justify myself a car(s) that I'm not ready for. I'm surprised the dealer didn't say anything, but I guess he was just trying do his job. Thanks all!

They're using my marks to control me . As long as I bring in the marks, they'll let me spend as much as I want on anything that is reasonable and could be classified as a need (in this case a car). My parents don't know much about vehicles when it comes down to performance, other than the price tag, looks and sound .

Modded 2010 Harley Edition F-450 and a '13 S5
There is not correlation flying a plane to controlling a high hp car for such a novice driver.
Although this a merc site... I would suggest a S4, or S5. All wheel drive, enough power to get you into to trouble, but not so much that it can get away on you too fast to catch. Get comfortable with the car and throw a stg II in it and you can run with Porsches.

I really wish I could say yes! . However, I am looking at the prospect of other business ventures. I'll have the money but will lack the experience. Looking at something along the lines of wholesale and distribution. Haven't done much research into the market yet but if there's room, I'll definitely be getting it in . So much for publicly sharing my future business plans. But if you have experience in wholesale and distribution, specifically along the lines of automotive parts, electronics, video games/movies, definitely let me know and I'll keep you posted!

My original choice was an S5, there are some really nice used RS5's in my city, and a brand new S5 is extremely realistic for me. Will definitely look into it. However, I will miss getting the last designo magno 507 c63, and I believe its the only one available in Canada .
