Start up Idle
My 2008, 29,000 miles, has quit doing the high idle at cold start up. Anyone else have this happen?

Can you provide a little more information about what is happening? What RPMs did your car used to idle at when cold starting? What RPMs does the engine now settle to after you cold start? What is the difference you're experiencing?

It just starts up at the normal idle. There is no 'settling'

mine only fast idles if I drove it no less than 10 hours prior. seems like the engine retains enough heat from previous use in my garage to not be considered a "cold"start. Perhaps you experience the same because it is summer. You wouldn't believe how much heat is retained in these engines, the next morning I felt my intake manifold was warm to the touch after 8 hours!. It definitely didn't feel anything like room temp metal.

Actually you dont want fast idle of you dont need. It just wastes more gas. Purpose of fast idle to warm car to operating temp quicker. If ecu doesnt call for it then youre all set to drive.
its better to warm car by driving slowly.

OK, sounds like it may be normal behavior in warmer weather. Just don't remember it going away last summer.

Yeah cold start during summer is not as much joyful as during winter. Your engine doesn't cool as much as it used too when it is freezing outside. Unless you have a vented hood to cool your engine quicker.

Will have to leave bonnet up in summer to aid in cooling down to enjoy the bark in the morning. That's got to be a good reason to wake up in the morning is it not?
