drag tires for 16" clk uglies.
Just bought a set of those ugly *** 16x7" clk wheels lol. Now i need a set of dot legal tires. I read that one of the guys is running 225/50/16's. Is this the biggest we can go on these? Am i going to need spacers also? Getting proper size lugbolts wont be an issue. Any input is appreciated. looking at hoosier dot drag radials P225/50R16 213$ . Anyone running the P255/50R16 they are wider and 26" tall vs 25". I definitely dont want rubbing with these softies.

You need to run them with 20mm spacers. Get the H&R DRA spacers, the spacer bolt to the hub and wheels bolt to the spacers, that way you don't need longer bolts, can can use the OEM lugs.
Wheels also need to be drilled to 14mm as I think they come 12mm, very easy to do.
Lastly you need to trim the rear brake pads, need to cut off the little tab that is used to pull the brake pads out. When I get to a PC I will post pictures for you of what needs to be done or someone else can chime in before then.
Happy drag racing.

awesome, thanks for all the input. My wife is hoping to run it at import face off this year. Although it has to run in the forced induction pro class, since these events werent really intended for big v8's with blower lol. The forced induction sport class only allow n/a 8/10/12 cylinder cars? wtf is that? Hopefully all the other little imports will break down . Id love to see an n/a c63 come wipe that class up too. Anyone in dfw want to come out. its november 9th at ennis
drilling to 14mm is no biggie. I have a set of spacers laying around, ill have to look at what size. Any idea on the center bore size?

The spacers are under $100, drilling the wheels is simple, same holes just increase the thread size. Cutting the brake pad is simple, just take the pad out and use some tinsnips or something similar.
You can also use rim screws to stop the rubber turning on the rim but I got a 1.59 60ft without it.
As for the centrebore it is the same as the C63, 66.6 so you have right there.

ya, i do think they are small, but the problems with the other dot tire choices is they are 26" tall and wider. I dont want any rubbing issues. Considering im lowered and even with the adjusters up 26" tall tire with any real width can rub easily. Ill be running these tires at lower pressures so they'll probably bulge a little. What are you running? There arent many posts with any helpful info. I just went with the confirmed size someone else is using with this setup.

I am also running a Weistec Stage 2 blower, and the 225s did their job.
Ran 10.7s and 10.8s all day, with low 1.6 60fts each time, and one run was even 1.5x 60ft (can't remember exactly but it was either 1.58 or 1.59).

Car was hooking up crazy good, i know i could've launched it a little harder too.
We were competing at import face off, which the class rules are a joke. We were forced to enter the forced induction PRO class. The forced induction sport class only allows n/a 8/10/12 cylinder engines lol. because n/a is forced induction... So our car was the only one of 6 that is daily driver, drove to the track not trailored, full unmodified interior, a/c etc... Having said that She lost the first round to a 8.6 @160mph supra lol, with a 76mm turbo, nitrous, powerglide, gutted interior and a parachute haha.

Dallas texas. It was actually a beautiful day. Weather could not have been better. I wanted to put some race gas in to get all the timing but they ran out of all the unleaded . I also dont have the trunk ice box tank either. Our pump gas has been rather crappy lately which doesnt help at all.
I didnt check the DA for that particular day. but ennis 1/4mi is only about 500ft above sea level.
