Chrome Door Handle Inserts...
My 507 came stock with the chrome door handle inserts and they appear to be bowing and do not sit flush to the door. Anyone else have this option? Similar fitment? Looks kind of crappy.
I'm also thinking of removing the chrome and blacking out the window trim. Anyone know of the complexity and cost of replacing the chrome strip on the door handle with a painted version? Anyone have a polar white setup who might be interested in swapping for my chrome?

Ew Chrome!
On my old sedan I used vinyl to cover up the chrome door handle inserts! -It looked amazing and as if it was painted! Restyle did it locally for me here in Toronto but any reputable car wrapping shop should be able to do it for you nicely and cheap! I also did the window trim with vinyl!

Unfortunately, my car is white and so I can't just wrap the chrome door handle strip like you did to your black car. I can remove the chrome insert that sits against the body but that still leaves me with the chrome strip on the handle itself.

Are the inserts really on your factory build sheet or did your dealer add them on? I had them on my E550 for a week before I removed them. They come off easily, and the car looks better without them. My 550 has chrome tops, and it still looks better without the inserts.

Ohhhh the piece thats part of the door handle can be wrapped white and your door trim as well. Have you not seen how many colours of vinyl exist! Too many LOL

I'd suggest wrapping your chrome trim too with vinyl. I also did this myself and although it was a bit of a job it turned out well. You could also get someone else to do the wrap, spend the cash on it, and then you don't have to worry about figuring out the wrapping process which has a bit of a learning curve IMO. But it certainly looks nice. I blacked out the chrome trim around the doors, but kept the door handle inserts. I may be the oddball here, but I like the look of the chrome handles...

Does anyone know what the SA factory code on the datacard for these are? Also can the dealer alter the datacard if they install options?

I'm torn on the chrome door handle insert delete. It looks cleaner without them but those inserts offer some good protection in terms of preventing nicks to the paint by careless ring-wearing females.
With Iridium Silver, I question whether the look will change much without them. I think the deletion would pair best with a deletion of the chrome window trim.
Vaclav's old chrome-less sedan looks great.

I removed mine...they are just held on with double sided tape. You will need to partially remove your door handle though to get enough room for the inserts to come out.
Depending on how long they've been on there, the tape residual can be a real pain to get off. Took me about an hour and a lot of elbow grease (and goo gone).

507 SEDAN
My build sheet for the 507 came with them as well. Very easy removal, just some junky plastic parts that are taped on. I have also wrapped the door trim and the truck trim piece. The only "chrome" left on my 507 are the badges.
I don't even have the amber side-markers. I had those paint matched to the body.

I have mine on a diamond white and while I love the blacked out chrome on a white car I am leaving the chrome. The car looks great either way to me and like mentioned ladies with rings aren't thinking about the paint or fingerprints when they get in and out of the car. For all the countless hours I have spent trying to remove scratches from behind door handles in prior cars the chrome inserts are staying. I have better things to do like watch youtube videos of C63s

take off the door chrome pieces. and if you must delete the rest you can wrap window trim in black and handles in white.
imHo. I like the chrome on white cars.. I feel the storm trooper look is great but at the same time it makes the white car look slightly "cheaper"... in the other hand my black car is all murdered out but I might change it up once awhile. happy modding !
