Try and contact the previous owner to see if he got it tuned first. Otherwise :
maybe get the handheld and tune from eurocharged or similar company. when you send them the "stock" file, they will probably be able to tell. if it turns out you have a tune, then maybe they will refund you or something for the handheld/tune you purchased. just a suggestion.
or, if you are local to one of those tuner shops, go in and have them check your existing file for you.
or, better yet, if you don't have any warranty concerns, go to the dealership and ask them to check. seems like they can tell usually.

Quickest legal way of finding out if you're tuned is to put it on a dyno. If you are tuned, the limiter will be removed. The HP numbers for an untuned non P31/507 car will flatten out after 5500rpm

I think the OP is asking if he needs to check anythign on the car first before HE puts a tune on it, not if it already has one. If so, I would make sure that your engine is in proper working state - but that has nothing to do with the addition of the tune itself. On a 2011 the warranty is likely runing out soon, so I'd make sure you have no valvetrain wear (you're way past the "defective" headbolt range), use the best oil you can (IMHO Mobil 1 0W40) and then drive it like you stole it.

I don't know what Mobil 1 Gold is. It appears to be a rebranded product for some overseas markets, but I don't know what formulation is in the bottle. If it's 0W40, chances are it's the same stuff as the NA 0W40 as Exxon only makes one oil with that viscosity range so you're good to go.

Base-line your car first. Make sure everything is working properly and that it is in sound condition and..................
buy you own tune!!!! You will start to build a relationship with a tuner, know your car better, and then you will have a good solid running car that you KNOW about.

You could have a tuner pull the ECU and compare the map to a stock map. That's how we check if a car is already tuned. Sometimes tuners even burry copyright's in the code.
