Old spark plugs

Just curious if anyone has experienced engine ping due to old spark plugs. Thinking about changing mine (63k miles).

63K Miles is definitely time to change them IMO.

Isn't 60k miles when you are supposed to change them?

Of course you can detonate (ping) with old plugs.

I have 57K miles and have changes plugs at least three times. Why? Because it is easy, cheap insurance and I drive it hard so therefore I change things more frequent...she stays running strong!

Yes, plugs are scheduled for replacement at 100,000 KM (62,137 miles) or 4 years.

I hear you. Problem is, I hate the downtime when my car is in the shop, and as far as DIY, I tend to have a nasty habit of stripping aluminum threads. Needless to say, I'm somewhat terrified to change my own plugs!

Detonation is a result of:

A) car running to lean
B) to low of fuel octane

Unless the plugs are not firing at all, they have no impact on your issue
