Buyback title
Curious if anybody here has dealt with a dealer buyback title, regardless of MB or not. I found a vehicle that has a manufacture buyback title, problem fixed. The issue was the upper intake manifold had leaks, vehicle owner pitched a fit and had MB take the car back. The manifold and gaskets were fixed and replaced, and now the car is all good but sits with a buyback title.
Would you guys be fearful? MB stands behind the car. If all is fixed, I dont see any issues. Do you guys?

As long as it comes to you as a CPO with a warranty and they are clear they'd fix any issue head to toe should something break, I don't see why not. Unless you wanted to mod it, then I'd find something else.
I'd just check with insurance to see if the type of title will influence your rates.

I wouldn't risk it, it's like buying a fixed "lemon" car in my eyes.. Too much things can go wrong down the road.
What happened to all the 507 sedan owners that offered u their cars?

B/c of the buyback title, the car cannot be CPOd, but it does still have the original factory warranty and I can purchase extended if I desire. The issue and fix did not void the cars warranty.
My insurance rates are not affected and would not change with the purchase of this particular vehicle.

Jordan, is this a 507? I understand the issue is fixed, but if I were to even consider a move on a car like that I'd be sure if something goes wrong the expense isn't coming out of my pocket.

Yeah, ParkerK who wanted a "$75k quicksale" in sept. down from $78k. I know Jordan isn't looking to spend that.

Good to know buy back is different than lemon. I always have in mind that Porsche guy who had all the troubles in the world to make the deslership buy back his car.

We spoke on the phone a few weeks ago, and we communicated via email. Mine is a black 507 Canadian sedan with Porcelain Nappa leather/Black Alcantara seats with carbon fibre trim. When I told you it had porcelain leather, you really liked that.
You were checking with an importer weeks back and said via email it was going slow... Mine is the one that is leased and I was going to buy it out for you even with a large penalty. $59k canadian which was 44k US then but now like 46k US. I have 24,200 kms which is 15k miles.

Buy back titles are not necessarily a problem if you plan on keeping the car for a while. It will just hurt the resale value. Just make sure the issue got fixed properly.

Exactly! As long as you know what the original issue was and has been corrected, there is nothing wrong with the buyback 507. Unfortunately, if you ever try to sell the car, be prepared to take a hit on the price for having a buyback title.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
I have no intention of selling the car. As per my first 507, I didn't plan on selling that car either. It was wrecked and insurance wanted to total it, or Id still have it. So that said, resale is not a worry of mine.

If they're keeping the factory warranty intact, then that's better than a CPO warranty. I would negotiate to include the extended warranty.
Downside to that is modding will be a much bigger gamble than a no history car.
At this rate, it's looking like it's easier to buy a black series than a 507 sedan.

Hey Jordan, I was interested in your old 507 that went to copart. I've been trying to figure out when the auction is, but it hasn't come up yet. I sent you a PM and e-mail, but have not heard back....
