STAR Software Mods?
My local indy repair shop is going to do an alignment for my next week. I've also asked them to do a few simple mods using their STAR SW. Specifically, I'm having them disable the seatbelt warning chime.
There are a few others that I plan to ask about, but am not sure if they are even possible:
1) Disable navigation address entry in motion (don't think this is possible without the ~$200 VIM adapter).
2) "Permanently" disable navigation voice prompts (so I don't have to "Mute" the prompts every time a start the car or enter a new destination). May be possible?
3) Set the default drive mode to "S" instead of "C". Not sure if possible.
Can anyone comment on if these mods are even possible, and if there are other useful mods I may not have thought of?
Thanks!

Not sure about the navigation prompts, never use the horrible car nav lol.
Also you can not set/reprogram the default drive mode to "S" sadly .

I don't ever drive without a seatbelt. However, I do sometimes start the car while in the garage, and sit for a minute or two while I fumble around stowing my laptop bag, start the nav, etc. And I'd prefer not to have a sound and light show blaring a me at 5:00AM if I can avoid it. That one I'm quite sure is possible.

Brought the car in on Monday to the local indie shop. They shut off the airbag light, and did the mod where the minimum octane rating is set to 93. The car feels...different. I think it's re-adapting.
Funnily, they couldn't shut off the stupid seatbelt warning, and had to email AutoLogic for a fix for that, which I'm still waiting on.

Wait, did you actually pay for someone to tell you they did this to your car? What did they say: "Hey, your car wont run anymore unless it detects 93 octane. We promise. It wont even start. So make sure you always put 93 in it!"

It is actually quite smart to have the default set to C, unless you live somewhere where your fluids can heat up very quickly. I was wondering for the longest time why my car would slam into 1st gear (obviously in S), if it was cold and my car wasn't warmed up. Then I read that you're supposed to warm the car up in C. My 2010 PFL starts in C and it chimes and b1tches at me for like 5 seconds on startup or until my seatbelt is buckled.

Ha! Actually, the speculation is that by setting the min octane rating to higher than the default level (which is for 87), the car will actually advance timing just a bit, and theoretically make more power. I've never seen a dyno confirm this, but they had the car hooked up anyway, so it can't hurt.
On my '12, the mode always defaults to C every time you restart the car.
No. The chime starts going as soon as the car is started on my '12.

No, I actually requested they do his after researching it here and on other MB sites. They also provided screen shots showing the four settings that can be selected (Default/89/91/93).

I am surprised to hear your default was 93. You verified this yourself using STAR/DAS? That doesn't really make sense, as in several parts of the country 93 isn't even readily available. I changed mine, because 93 is available everywhere I travel. I believe the fuel door states a min of 91.

You are correct; I think the default on mine was probably actually 91, not 87.
