Traction Inoperative See Operator's Manual
Hi.
I have a 2009 M-B C63 AMG. Some time ago when I was cruising at about 50mph and hit the gas (all the way) something strange happened. Message showed up "Traction(icon) Inoperative See Operator's Manual" (photo below) and car started to accelerate very slowly. When I restared the engine everything came back to normal again. It already happened to me few times after that. What is going on??? Can somebody explain to me???

Did you ever think of reaching over to the glove box and as instructed read your manual----before I comment, what did you learn or are you still in a daze!!

The search actually works well here. Could be anything. Need to scan the ESP module to find out what caused it.

To prove the point turn the ESP to passive and you will get a constant yellow triangel-----now create the same previous contitions---what happens and do you get a message
Overall I would say that you do not have an issue, the ESP is simply doing it's job or telling you to turn on the ESP and let it help your driving conditions!!
PS: I also noticed that in your screen shot the ESP was off----was it off at the beginning of this opus!!

I had simiar experience and it was a faulty gas pedal. Replaced and no more inoperative traction control.
Though i think you still need to find out what code has been store to really make it sure.
If this happens in often it could throw a permanent code. Or you can check right awa while is inoperative.

But as soon as I restarted the engine that message was gone. Is it stored somewhere??? Do I need to go to the dealer to check it, or will I be able to find it myself???

Great thank you very much, thread is 3 years old wasn't expecting a reply!, I'll give it a go, do you know if I can just replace it myself plug and play, or does it have to be reset etc in a more advanced way? I wonder if it's anything to do with the throttle position sensor which I believe is integrated into the accelerator module, could be wrong.

It was done by my mechanic, but i believe it is plug and play. He didn't say anything about any programming or adjusting. He told me it was same part as for regular W204 C-class. I think it was about 200-300 usd just for the part. Also before you do anything go the dealer or good mechanic to verify if it is the pedal. From what i know that gas pedal issue is pretty common in all W204's.

Yeh I'm booked in for Thursday however I didn't get any engine management lights so I doubt any codes have stored so not sure how they will be able to fully diagnose but I will leave it with them, was tempted just to do it myself.
Also was hoping it wasn't that expensive! Either way thanks for the advice, will see what the mechanic says, they're a well reviewed AMG specialist so hopefully they can sort it.
