2011 CL63 or 2008 S65- which one?
Here is an interesting question - which one would you
Choose? The 2008 S65 is CPO for 3 yrs with 46k;
The CL63 2011 has 31k and comes with
5 year warranty (carmax). The CL is 6k more once warranty
Is included. Please help want to decide tomorrow!!

If I was only going to own it 3 years or less when the CPO ran out, the S65 would be a strong consideration. However, it's hefty and older. I like fast and nimble.
Then CL63 with the 5 year warranty for 6K more is the one I'd choose if money wasn't a serious consideration. That would expecially be the case if I planned on owning it over 3 years. Moreover, doesn't the CL63 book for way more than 6K over the S65 as it stands?
The more I think about it the more it's a no-brainer. I'd go CL63 all the way. Easy Peasy.
UPDATE: Here's what Edmunds has to say about it:
Cl63 - Dealer Retail is 81K
S65 - Dealer Retail is 61K
You'll start out 14K ahead with the CL63 and it's a much newer car with a much better warranty.

Thank you for the great responses. The cl63 is 69k + 4k for the 5 year warranty with a $200 per repair (can do $100 deductible for 5k). The S65 2008 is 66k which includes the 3 year certification, so it's 7k less than the CL. I normally don't keep cars longer than 2-3 years so resale value is a factor. So what's the general consensus ??

Therefor the Edmunds retail is inaccurate (there are very few S65 changing hands through Manheim auctions so it is hard to determine the true value.
Regarding the warranty, there is a $200 deductible every time I will use the carmax warranty (through an MB dealer) for the 5 years (up to 100K miles) and with the S65 the CPO has no deductible for its 3 years with unlimited miles as far as I know (it is also refundable if I sell the car).

Assuming that having 4 doors isn't really part of the consideration, I would go with the CL63. Quite a bit newer as far as features/options and the difference in transmissions is huge.
If you plan on modding, either one is a great platform, and you can come pretty close to the performance of the 65 with the V8 biturbo without getting too extreme.

I would go with the 2011. The wheels look like replicas and not MB wheels. Does the Carmax cover the ABC suspension and all the components. If not, get one that will cover those components.

How much are original rims on this car? If these are replicas it is suspicious maybe the car was in a wreck which explains the absurdly low price. These cars sell for 68k in auction and there is no way carmax is only pocketing 1-2k on this car. Their warranty includes everything.
