Electrical issues after disconnecting battery on 2000 CLK430

Sent this post over for my brother
Hello!
I disconnected the negative post on my battery on my 2000 CLK430, now I have an ABS and BAS warning light on and the windows will not roll up, Can anyone please assist with this? Prior to this there were no issues. Thanks!

Shawn

Turn your car on, turn steering wheel from lock to lock a few times, then roll ur windows up one at a time and when they're up hold the switch in the up position for another 3 seconds

Another way on the windows is to use the locking function on the key fob to cycle all the windows.

You've also have to sych the sunroof and the limits on the seats (same procedure....one limit/hold 5 sec and then other limit/hold 5 sec).

Don't forget to do a burnout, that's a crucial part of any repair order!

Just drive the car a few feet and apply the brakes to get rid of the warning lights on the dash, it has to detect you ABS sensors and calibrate. I freaked out too the first time.

99CLK320,
after 15 years my oem battery headed south. tried to start it and just got a click so I hooked up the charger and it started right up. Question: has anyone hooked up a charger under the hood for a 2amp maintenance charge then pulled the battery? This should prevent the whole re-sync windows, sunroof and seats, no? My thinking is; as long as there is juice to the computer no reset is needed, eh. TIA DB

I would think not. In my experience fiddling with the battery, you always have to perform the reprogram procedures immediately after reconnection. I know little about the voltage system of our cars but without the battery the ECU could not circulate power which is what is necessary for your car not to "forget" how to perform it's programmed tasks.

I respectfully disagree...hook a charger onto the engine bay jump start terminal and onto a good ground.....pull battery and no resync needs to be done.

be careful when disconnecting battery that you don't rest the terminals on anything...sparks will fly!
