Ladies and Gentlemen,

This has truly gotten out of hand. I'm sorry that I don't feel the same way as you do about your wives clk's, but I don't believe that I should be burned at the e-stake for having a differing opinion. I could go over to M6board and post things I don't like about my M6 such as "I can only get 180 miles out of a tank" or "My stock exhaust isn't loud enough" and I don't think I would be met with this level of pure hatred.

To address a few points:

1. To the sassy lady that pointed out my car payments are more than my house payment; you are absolutely right! They are actually much, much more. Being that my house payment is a mind boggling $0/month my car payments are actualy infinitely more expensive. Let me explain.

Two years ago my then girlfriend was finishing up her tenure at the university of Kentucky. We decided to move in together. The logical step was to move into one of my families rental units until we decided to build our own house. Fast forward two years and we are newly weds and have began to look at building sites. We will be here at least another year; we're both happy! I will be building our house, of course not with my own two hands.

2. To the poster that claims the bangle butt is ugly: please tell me why Mercedes copied the design on their S550. I love the S550 (the 500 was a complete joke). I think it still looks great nearing the end of it's life cycle and it still has a ton of road prescense, but why did Mercedes choose to implement bangle-esque styling ques on their flagship? They also decided to move the shifter leaver from the center console to the steering column a-la E65, but that's another story.

3. To the poster that says I am old and fat: I am not, I promise. Please stop with the hurtful insults.

4. To the poster that called my wife Lassie: She is beautiful, I promise. Please stop with the hurtful insults.

(edit) 5. To the poster that said my wife makes more than me: not yet, but hopefully soon. :-D

Ok, back on topic. As I said earlier my wife backed into a brick wall and broke out a tail light. She is taking it into the body shop today to get an estimate on the damage from the tramp that hit her while she was pumping gas, bit I doubt they will fix the light as it is on the other side of the car. Here is a picture of the tail light:

My question to the experts; I found this replacement on eBay. Will it fit? Is it PNP? Any DIY?

A link to the auction:

Sounds like you are making all the right choices. And with that driving record you def' should have gotten your wife a camry. She's going to make that CLK as expensive as hell.

A tail light swap is certainly DIY kind of project. I'd recommend you upgrade your lil' lady to the LED CLK tail lights. If you honestly are accepting advice.

Very odd thread.

I had a friend who would insult me and then ask for my help.

This takes me back.

In any case I got some info about kevs rear cooler project! Yeah.

Anybody that calls his wife a "trophy" in any context has no respect for anybody. Probably no self respect either.

Myopia strikes again. The only vague similarity is that both are clamshell designs. They don't look vaguely alike styling wise.

Try & fit a W211 E class light assembly. It also looks similar but won't fit. Even with instructions.

Enjoy your status seeking symbol. You really are a boring Toyota person at heart. Only difference is a Toyota would be a lot more reliable than said status seeking symbol with roundel.

LOL! Actually, he reports to one of the managers who reports to me. My boss drives a company car, which is a Honda Accord. I was offered one when I started with the company in January and I of course declined. I have since been told that I am "expected" to drive a company car because our chairman doesn't like us driving nice cars because he feels it's bad for morale of the non-executives. One of my peers told me that if I have a bad driving record, they wouldn't let me drive a company car (that's how she gets to drive her M3). So, I lied and told them I had several tickets and wrecks and they dropped it.

Guys, I think you are missing the humor here. Who really would talk in earnest about a trophy wife with a spray tan and being a rich man parking his cars in the garage? C-A-T-S may be insulting our CLK's, but I see it as all in fun. The whole BMW vs. MBZ thing is more like a couple of guys busting chops over their college football teams. I've been laughing all the way through this.

I think C-A-T-S is a little guy that just craves attention. Obviously lacking somewhere in his life. Why else this little charade?

I do find it amusing!

Friends, Romans, Countrymen; lend me your ears,

My apologies for the delayed response. Last we spoke I was meeting my trophy wife at the body shop to asses the damage to her 1998 CLK 550 cabriolet. Since speaking with the adjuster I have been unable to stop laughing my haughty *** off. As of now I have regained my composure. Before we go any further I feel it necessary to post pictures of the damage.

Ok, so as you know the bum that hit my wives car had no insurance. I thought he should have been shot dead on the spot, but apparently Obama believes otherwise. So, the total damage; $1,700 plus our $500 deductible that we pay because some tramp decides to sit on his *** all day and live off his hoe's welfare and section 8 check. Whatever.

Here's where things get really funny. Due to the damage the top wont go down and the trunk won't close! LOL! Insurance lady said it may very well be totaled! LOOOOOLLLL! Taking it to the Mercedes dealership next week to have it evaluated.

As such I have another question. Someone please tell me how my "well sorted out" (certainly not my words) cabriolet has fallen to pieces due to a 4MPH collision while parked at speedway while my wife pumped 87 octane. This thing is a piece of ****! I would hate to be inside it during a "real" collision at say 18MPH!

Looks like I may be dumping this heap sooner than planed. Goodbye POS Mercedes. Hello God's gift BMW.

Edit: the collision also broke the rear drivers side control arm and is now causing uneven wear on my brand new Conti DWS. Roll on floor laughing!

Back under your bridge, troll !!!

Last week it was a "tramp" who hit the car (implying female) this week it was a "bum" (implying male).

If you can't tell boys from girls it would explain a LOT.

Where you and your wife related BEFORE the wedding?

You know, like "same Mom, various fathers" or was it the "Springer CLassic", "Same Dad, different sisters"?

The top won't operate if the trunk won't close. The trunk probably won't close because it shifted the sill. It doesn't matter what car make you drive, this is the new way cars are made. Because of Federal safety standards and the race to come out on top of crash tests, cars pretty much self-destruct in order to protect the passengers.

A guy in a pickup truck backed into my kid's C240 and did about $6K of damage - it needed a new fender, bumper, headlight, tire, rim, lower control arm, and repair work to the hood and shock tower.

If you had better knowledge of physics, you'd probably understand why it works this way. Remember, almost all modern safety features were pioneered by MBZ. They were the first auto manufacturer to even begin to consider safety as a feature.

Rodney, I think you and the rest of us are wasting time with this guy. I really feel he is dumb as a stump. Just posting stuff to get a rise out of everybody. Well Cats, if that is what you wanted you win. But I think you should stop. Because the more you post, the dumber you sound. I may live down south now, but I am from Long Island, NY. And you are just making yourself sound like a dumb redneck stereotype. No disrespect to any of you all that were born and raised in the south. Oh, and I still think you are old and fat! lol.........

We are talking to a very simple man here. He has trouble grasping even the absolute basics e.g. that a Toyota tail light will not fit a CLK ~ so expecting him to understand the folding top/trunk lid interlock is a stretch.

He's still looking for that bad CLK road test ~ he will search in vain!

Actually this post has a positive unintended consequence...... the little clk community rallies and grows tighter! A big cheers to my w209 and w208 brothers.

I see this thread as a call for help. Google any number of hot-lines for low self esteem, poor positive image, etc.... you WILL find what you are looking for.
