CAT 2 MICRON FUEL FILTER UPGRADE?
Was wondering if anyone attempted a CAT 2 MICRON FUEL FILTER UPGRADE on their newer cdi/bluetec diesels? seems to be a common modification on the heavier diesel trucks, etc.
My concern is the rather expensive injectors and high pressure fuel pump in my 2010 bluetec.
It seems to connect inline. My understanding was that same would be connected @ fuel line from the tank -> cat filter -> stock filter -> engine.
would this damage either fuel pump? additive should be sufficient to prevent fuel geling? suggestions? ideas?
some people did same in the older 300Ds,etc.

They,Who or whatever have only given you have the information---filter efficiency has two parts--A--size of particle entraped and B--At what flow rate--ask them the flow rate then compare that to your system--is it higher or lower---if lower you gotta problem with you BT!!
PS---Take a guess what the particle size efficiency is on your benz fuel filter!!

I can tell you that ALL the filter companies are scratching their heads at the moment regarding the filtration of diesel to the level required by modern very high pressure injection systems with amplifier injectors. The problem is not meeting the absolute micron rating at 75 Beta ratio. It is one of area of media required to filter at such levels without excessive differential across that media thus affecting flow. This is that filters that will do the job & provide adequate life in service, with little pump through once semi clogged are all too large.

working on it actually. not sure how i should install. 1) fuel tank - caterpillar filter - factory filter - engine, or 2) tank - factory filter - caterpillar filter - engine.
i am looking for a model with a heater, but not sure where i could get power for same from.
what flow does the om642 require?

Marc. That's the problem for automotive. Space!. I would leave Benz filtration systems well alone.
