Wheel/tire upgrade for 2014 E550 Coupe
I’m fairly new to the forum and am awaiting delivery of a 2014 E550 Coupe which rolled off the production line just a few days ago. While waiting I am seriously considering a +1 wheel and tire upgrade to be done ideally before delivery. This subject has been covered in the past a number of times but there does not seem to be a ‘right’ answer for me. So with my apologies about bringing up the subject again here goes.
The Coupe will have the standard wheels installed. 235/40R18x8.0” ET45 and 255/35R18x8.5” ET49. My goal is to update to 245/35R19x8.5” and 275/30R19x9.5”. I do not contemplate any suspension changes. My eyes are drawn to a staggered set of AMG wheels of these dimensions with all 4 having an offset of ET43. I have made use of several of the online offset calculators which agree with one another. For the front wheels the inner clearance will be reduced by 4mm and they will extend 8mm further out. For the rear wheels the inner clearance will be reduced by 7mm and they will extend 19mm further out. Of course I do not want to have any clearance problems nor do I want the wheels to project out further than the wheel openings. Comments/suggestions? Will this work for me?
Finally, have any of you, especially Stateside, had dealings with this supplier in the UK? http://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/ They also have a MB fitment chart that seems to indicate that my selection will be okay. http://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/inf.../mercedes-benz I don’t want to change anyone’s opinion about fitment but does this chart seem accurate?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

I'm running 255/35 on 19x8.5 ET 40 up front, and 285/30 on 19x9.5 ET45 rear. Your fitment is inside every one of my dimensions due to the smaller tire size. Since I have no issues, and your setup provides extra room (poke, inset, and diameter/circumference), you shouldn't have a problem.

Well, my search is not over. It will be worth my time to look for other options. I've bookmarked your company link and will certainly look at other options. Right now I just want to validate the offsets that are on the AMG wheels. If they are okay then a few mm here or there would most likely also be okay. I may be talking to you soon. Thanks for your input.

I've ordered twice from Alloy Wheels Direct and it was great service and price both times. The nice thing about real AMG wheels at reasonable prices is that they hold their value, unlike aftermarket no name brands.

Well it's a good thing we only carry the top names in the aftermarket wheel industry which hold their value pretty well.

Never buy aftermarket wheels thinking they will hold their value. I have gone through countless of HREs and while they are amazing wheels, it will be rare to find anyone to pay you "market value". Buy wheels because: 1) you like the way they make your car look; 2) are made from a reputable manufacturer who puts out quality product. Good luck with your search. If you have any questions about vendors or products, holler at me.

Are you looking for more 19" or stepping up to 20"? Are you looking to go wider or keep the existing profile? Are you trying to get the wheels to "poke" more or do you want to keep the existing stance? Do you like black, white, silver, gunmetal, green, etc. colors?
You have to share more to get good suggestions.

For tires my choice was to install a staggered set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3.
245/35R19 and 275/30R19.
For wheels I settled on a set of genuine, not replica, AMG wheels.
AMG B66031511 19X8.5” ET43
AMG B66031512 19X9.5” ET43
All swapping was done before the car was delivered. The dealer set a trade-in value for the factory wheels. The TPMS sensors and the center caps were moved from the factory wheels to the AMG wheels. Then after some tweaks to the front end alignment I accepted delivery of the Coupe. A rather expensive swap but after using the factory wheels and tires as a trade-in and a further discount for MB Club of America members the financial blow was softened a bit. I’ll try posting some pics. Thanks to all who responded to my original post.

this is one of the "right" threads around here
5 starts on all steps and a new set of OE wheels and best tires
on a closer look i think a bit wider tires can look even better especially on front but this is something really minor
respect !

any rubbing on rear wheels?
did you experience any rubbing on the rear wheels with your tire upgrade? great job!
This is a follow up to my original post asking for wheel and tire fitment information for a then on order 2014 E550 Coupe. While awaiting its arrival I spent a fair amount of time looking at online wheel catalogs and running various online calculators. My intent was to replace the 18” factory wheels with wider 19” wheels and correspondingly larger tires. Now all of my original thoughts have come to fruition.
For tires my choice was to install a staggered set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3.

Sorry for the tardy reply. Haven't been on the forum much lately. At this point I have 10K+ miles on the new wheels and tires and not a hint of rubbing anywhere with the standard suspension.
