Trunk popping open and alarm going off randomly
The car is possessed. I did a search that said things about resyncing my key...which is really weird.
Anyone experience this? The car is a 2014.

I hope not to jinx it, but after disconnecting the battery last night so it wouldn't keep going off, it seems to have stopped. I really hope it was just some weird fluke.

Went to get in my car for work this morning, and the trunk was popped open again. No alarm this time though...

Could someone have replicated your radio signal??
Does it happen anywhere other than your garage at home?

I suppose it should be noted, I'm missing one of my key fobs which was really low on battery power last time I had it. It must be in the house, since the issues only happen at home so far.

I thought that too, but didn't see anything. I tried starting the car, and it said key not detected. If it were in the trunk, it wouldn't stay closed all day at work, and just pop open late at night.
I was thinking it was in my wife's purse or something, but I can't find it in there. It's bugging me!

Mine was happening just at home, so I figured it had to be the lost key fob somewhere, but I just can't find it. The issue has since stopped happening...for now. dun dun duuuuunnnnn

A while ago there was a post about the trunk popping open and it turned out that there was a short in the wiring to the trunk. If I remember, the wiring runs close to the body and vibrations or something caused the insulation to split.

Mystery solved! I mentioned I had a missing key fob right? Well, I double-checked all my pants and jackets again. I found it in a pair of pants that had been cleaned about a week ago! Key gets wet, air dries with the pants...and that has to be why weirdness was happening. Key is now dead, and I haven't had an issue.
Now, to replace the key or just live with the one. Anyone know how much it is to get a replacement and reprogrammed key?

You should always have a second key

Did the trip through the wash actually ruin the key? I once dropped the key fob for a C250 into a wash bucket, and was able to use the key after drying it and changing the battery. Sometimes the car wouldn't recognize that the key was in my pocket, but other than that it was fine.

The other day i went out and saw the trunk popped open in the garage and I thought of you. Then I realized I must have done it when I bent over to tie my shoes with my key in my pocket. Whew...
