Check Engine Error Codes P0455 & P0115
Ok, my check engine light came on and I am rounding down the problem I would like some input on this. Two codes came up P0115 (Engine Coolant Temp Circuit Malfunction) P0455 ( Evap Emmissions systems). I can only assume that P0115 has came up because of me parking on a incline. which could have possible through off the sensor cause on my dash it would state "Coolant level low" after driving that would go away. But I did realize a bit of coolant on the bottom cover in front of the engine. I don't know weather that is just a puddle i went through driving into my driveway or coolant. P0455 I can only assume as well that it could be to my faulty and ****ty replacement gas cap, but wouldn't the warning light flash? otherwise I do not see any noticeable signs of these two codes. BTW its a 1999 E430
Thanks in advance!!

Out Of Control!!
You really have to re read what you stated--the coolant temp circuit is electrical it doesn't care where you are park---assuming you live on a hill do you have to prop up your toaster on on side for it to work---come on dude get a new coolant temp sensor.

ahlan wa sahlan, I do believe that this code was outstanding from before just didn't trigger the CEL. Is that possible since you stated that it would save it in the ECU memory.

Ahleen,
P0115 is a generic code that saved to the ECU, if any kind of leak or air comes through the C. sensor,
you have to clean the C. sensor, then clear code, if P0115 appears again, means C. sensor should to be changed...

Completely understandable I feel like it might of been there from before. Well I just ordered a genuine Mercedes gas cap, should be expecting it in the mail soon. Once I receive it I'll install, clear the CEL. Also once again this coming weekend I'll check underneath the car for any leaks.
Thank you!

Problem solved!!
I have cleaned up the coolant temperature sensor and replaced my gas cap and the CEL is gone. May do a write up on my gas cap issue. It wasn't the gas cap that caused the issue but the filler neck that it locks into. Did some minor repairs/adjustments and it's good to go. Will post write up soon with pictures.
