Smart Key
I have a 2001 E320 I was wondering if the smart key when you hold it down for three seasons still opens the windows and sunroof on this year? I can't get mine to work. I had a 1998 E320 I could open my windows and sunroof with the press of the open putting on the smart key.

mmm. let me ask this: can you currently operate your windows in express mode
i.e. one touch fully close or open without holding the button down? for the roof
can you hold the button and it will continuously operate the roof open/close
without stopping every few inches of travel?
i didn't think that the Smartkey is field programmable for the convenience
features

Yes...All my windows work in one touch express mode so does my sunroof...The battery was replaced last year. The dealership reprogrammed everything back to normal.

tyson - which battery was replaced? the key has 2 batteries. can you verify
their voltages and health? the IR and RF (windows/locking respectively) use
requires healthy batteries. car starting requires no batteries. so i'm trying to
get a clear picture of what has been verified.

Do the batteries not act as one powercell the way they are set up in the keyfob? Why would you ever replace one and not the other?

he referenced singular battery, which implies the 50# car battery. if so, that is
not the critical battery for convenience features described above. so the questions
serve to isolate and gain clarity. cant help if the picture isn't clear, or the
incorrect terms are being used
which battery(ies) have been verified full strength?
exactly which features have been verified functional...and which are not?

another option:
the above serves to 'resync' the Smartkey fob with the central locking system
- be sure car battery is fully charged and/or healthy
- be sure charger is disconnected from vehicle
- place smartkey into ignition. it should cause click and unlock steering column
- leave in ignition for 15 mins (probably well long enough)
- try convenience opening/closing again

generally, no.
that said, there are different actions which may skew this, e.g. installing wrong
size batteries, installing them out of polarity, etc. this electronics thing can all
come down to the devil in the details. but for simply quick battery changes, no.
resync isn't needed

I might be confusing this with my BMW but wont the convenience feature also work if you unlock/lock the door with the metal key and hold it in the unlock/lock position

My car is 2002 s-430 Mersades, I lost my key, and I wonder, is it the key I want: http://www.carkeydeal.com/wholesale/...-sa1243-b.html
It looks the same with mine.
