E320 wagon
buy a wagon

hello, I'm looking into buying a e320 wagon next week while in LA. I'm first time Mercedes owner but have some experience around them. my question is what I should stay away from?

I'm looking at a few 2002 and 2003 models with about 140 to 160k

is there anything I should look for specify or any specific model years I should stay away from? I like the 2000-03 more than 198-99 wagons personally.

any information is appreciated.

98 Brilliant Silver E320 Wagon
With a car this old it's all about condition and I don't mean cosmetics. The face-lift models have few extra bells and whistles but I, personally, would not rule out a MY1998/MY1999.

The 4Matic gets slightly less gasoline mileage due to weight and lower gearing. About 2-3 mpg highway. If you need it on a regular basis fine otherwise it adds to operating cost and maintenance.

2014 E350 4Match Wagon
I just purchased a 2001 used wagon. Here is the ink to the feedback I got :

These cars don't need AWD for Sunny California just complexity and weight. I live in the Northeast and had a RWD W124 for 15 years (and used quality 3 season tires and snow tires in the winter). Purchased chains used maybe 3 times. Nice to not have to worry about rust in a purchase!
