2006 E350 4matic
I have a 2006 E350 4matic. Just saw the SOS Tele Aid Malfunction Drive to Workshop message pops up every 5 seconds. The GPS works, and funny I could press the "i" or the wrench icon in the center console and got connected to the SOS center, which I don't think it worked before. I do not have any subscriptions to the service.

Who can advise how can I reset the message?

I had a similar problem with Tele aid. I never subscribed to the service but I got a continual dashboard message that informed me to take the vehicle to the shop for service. I took the car to the dealer who charged me $145 to put the car on their computer system. I told them about the dashboard warning and told them to remove or disable the Tele Aid feature since I never subscribed to it. I signed a waiver about me being informed that it was turned off. I guess for legal reasons. I received a clean bill of health and now I am malfunction free. (At Least My Car Is Anyway) What triggered the malfunction warning no one will ever know. The only way to reset the message is by computer.

SOS GONE 😄

The 2 minute light trick did it for me. I have meaning to hook the car up to the SDS but I keep forgetting. I finally remembered to give the headlamp thing a try, left the headlamp on for 2 minutes and then restarted the car, message was on as expected. Turn the engine off again and then back on and now the message is gone.
My problem statered when I got curious and pressed the SOS button...😳
Thanks to whoever discovered that!

I asked the dealer to address this the last time I was there. They didn't do a damn thing about it. It only used to come on intermittently, now it's on all the time.

I'll try the headlight trick, but it's ridiculous that we have to do stuff like this.

Thanks Mike. This works for my car, too. Only thing was that I had to turn on/off car 2 -3 few times after burn headlight 2 minutes. I think I know what was the cause in my case. I forgot to clear services reminder message for 33 days over due...

Neither the headlight trick nor the clean the splitter worked for me. I don't have a splitter to begin with and there was no corrosion where the splitter should be anyways.

The headlight trick didn't work for me either. I ended up taking my vehicle to the dealer who charged me $145 to turn off the error message. That was over 6 months ago and still error free.

yeah, i had to try several times for steps 1-3 and. Making sure you dont have other over due services reminder or error messages. I did not touch the tele aid but the message turned on by itself. My guess that could be the over due reminder there and needs to be cleared first.

Post SOS Tele Aid Inoperative

In my opinion “The Tele Aid” is a Safety option that cars should have it free of cost; that is not a luxury but a necessity…specialty if the vehicle is in an accident and the driver is in so bad shape that is unable to call 911; having that service activate; the system will contact an operator and make the call for assistance, 911 in this case; but as well as other brands (example ..GM and “On Start”) that services are offer free just for few months or years after that the customer have to pay for the services…
So if you take the MB (2005 and newer with the “digital or better SCN coding system) to the dealer to disable that system…more likely they will refuse to do so; therefore if you are tired of seeing the warning statement “SOS Tele Aid Inoperative” in the instrument cluster display…SORRY but you only have 3 options:
1. Paid for the services (activate it)
2. Push the Ok in the left side of the steering wheel menus, or R in the instrument cluster. (That is a temporally solution) and…
3. Have someone (NOT Dealer) with the DAS/XENTRY and the option of software developer open and disable the system in the control modules that control that option “Tele Aid” or assistance plus (Instrument cluster, central gateway, and Air bag module)….

If, in fact, message was caused by analog equipment request MB goodwill deactivation. Although bulletin addresses “SOS TeleAid Not Activated” it provides documentation of procedure, see PDF here http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...56505,d.eXYfor – antiquated equipment installed at production is malfunctioning therefore “customer pay” should not apply speak with Service Manager to have MB approve goodwill deactivation.

Sorry for the Thread Resurrection here.

Would anyone know if the iCarsoft computer would be able to reset or change the setting for this SOS Tele aid issue?

This SOS Inoperative message just came up up on mine. I noticed it SOS Tele Aid Inoperative after the dealer plugged the computer in to do a full system check when I requested for a new key FOB.

Hi MBWORLD,
I drive a 2002 ML320 SPORT all of a sudden I have the SOS call coming in on my radio panel, even when the vehicle is off. This caused me to need a jump twice in 10 days. Can you please send me a copy of the DTB to present to my dealer. I tried the headlight trick it worked for a very short period.

Thank you,
So sad......

FWIW, I had the message and found corrosion in the 110 antenna splitter. I cleaned it and applied a bit of bulb grease to keep water out and the problem went away (a year or three ago). Apperantly, rain would get in through the antenna wire, run down the wire and into the splitter connection. I also put a little dip in the wire and put a piece of tape dangling from it so any water would drip away there.

good luck,
Peter

Bulletin does not include 163. As suggested check splitter, see attachments. If all seems fine you will need to have someone pull fault codes, module may be causing discharge.

Mine went away when I clean the contacts on the rear antenna splitter box in the trunk. Apparently it was frustrated that it didn't have a good antenna connection even though I don’t have Teleaid.

Maybe a dealer can turn the function off so it doesn’t search for it.
