DTB addresses continuance or discontinuance of an active TeleAid subscription equipped with analog unit noting “at cost” remedies. However, if you do not have an active subscription and you want to stop displayed “any” warning messages produce a copy of the DTB and request goodwill recoding in that it documents changing TeleAid from present to not present with SDS. Reasoning: you do not subscribe to TeleAid and are not interested in doing so, the unit MB installed at production is malfunctioning because it is analog, and quite frankly you consider it a safety hazard for warning messages to continually display is MFD (multiple function display). If the service manager denies your request, have them put you in touch with the local MB rep or call the CAC (MBUSA customer assistance center) 800-367-6372 to request a meeting.
*MBRACE is still running the $295 lifetime membership to those who are switching from the TeleAid system to MBRACE (keep in mind that, if you haven't already, you must have your system changed from Analog to Digital)
*The stealership will charge you a steep price for converting to digital. Quotes ranging from $2k-$3k WOW.

QUESTION: I found this item on eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mercedes-Tel...730152&vxp=mtr and was wondering if anyone has any experience with it??
.
What I was hoping is that I could buy this and install it myself and then go to the dealership to update my Comand with Star Diagnostics.
.
I was told by my local dealer that the charges would be $225 if they are simply updating and not changing parts. Is this reasonable?
So bottom line, should I reasonably expect a dealer service department to disable this for free, or are they just going to look down their nose at me and quote me some way-out-of-line quadruple-digit figure to do some cockamaimy conversion that I'm not even interested in?
BTW, I do not have any kind of relationship with my local Benz dealership (or any other Benz dealership, for that matter). If they don't come through, is this something a good indy can do?

If you don't have SOS, then the SOS message comes on when the computer thinks there's a problem with it related to battery voltage. If you turn on the headlights for two minutes with the engine off it puts a drain on the battery. Later when you start the car, it notices that the voltage doesn’t match the memory value and resets the battery voltage reading in the computer. With the value reset, as the car charges up it decides it has enough voltage and turns off the SOS.
1. turn key to run but don't start
2. burn headlights for two minutes
3. turn key off
It might show the message the next time but that SHOULD BE the end of it... until next time.

Tried turning to 'not present' via STAR a couple times, but there isn't a submenu for Teleaid. Looked for splitter in the trunk thinking there could be some corrosion (in fact, I still have the trunk gutted). Can't locate the splitter.
The headlight voltage trick is nice but is only temporary.
Any other suggestions are much appreciated!!

I will dig around in there again to see what I can find!
