The triangular shaped one? Maybe to just look better. It could have done as just one single piece of cover I think instead of the cover/filter box and a separate piece in the front.

im guessing, like most covers, its there for noise suppression.

2002 Mercedes E500
LPG injectors

No problems removing the plastic cover panel and filter housing, but looks like I'll have to dismantle both LPG injector rails, which have been helpfully screwed onto sides of housing! Don't really want to disconnect all 8 hoses leading down to cylinders. Has anyone else removed these rails? How easily do they come off?

Welcome to the world of V8 under the star don't fall for these K&N filters. They really have no additional value. Get the OEM ones.

I think those covers are put in mostly to discourage owners from doing their own work. If it looked like a carbureted Chevy 350 it'd cut into dealer profits.

Pull the cover up and flip it upside down. Done.
