Changed the oil and cleaned the underside while at it.
Since I am only 27k into the air filters, I just took them out and vacuumed the dirt/bugs stuck between the filter elements. Other than that bit, the filters were almost as clean as when new. I cleaned out he air box and tubes leading into them.
I reset the FSS confirming 229.5 spec oil (M1 0W40), now says 13k till next service. Do you recommend going that long? I usually change between 10k and 11k. I did use Mercedes filter also.

I forgot to mention; last week I had to clean the entire driver's side interior because of the smell/grease/dirt the mechanic left behind after doing the idiotic MO vehicle inspections necessary for plate renewal!!!! I had to use Super Spray All for the carpeting and A pillar and Lexol (the high end stuff) for the cleaning and reconditioning of the seat, steering wheel, and shifter. I really hate the fact that I have to pay for someone to tell me something I already know... and then f up my car. I hope the BMW dealership treats our X5 better than the E class was.

I gave her 4 new TPMS sensors purchased online from the USA for around $100 each shipped versus $350+ here in Australia.
I had them fitted at the local tire shop and the TPMS inoperative message has now gone and i have a dash which says "No Malfunctions"

Why did you remove that speaker? just curious. I think it is mainly used for the speech setting. I use that one 95% of the time. Talk Radio

eventually, they break. common problem on the 03, 04 ones (don't know about the 05+ since the vent style was changed). what usually happens is the outer liner that hold the speaker to the magnet or whatever tears and you can actually pull the speaker out. so instead of pay $100+ for a new one I just pulled the speaker out but the magnet is still there. i'm sure you can find it cheaper, but I just got lazy for the tme being. i think it's due the way the sun hits through the windshield. makes sense that the S/CL's wouldn't be affected since they have IR shielded or whatever glass.
ya actually i get more bass now. lol always thought the harman/kardon didn't have as much bass as my old bose system in my 94 s420
EDIT: oh and oddly enough the screw holding in the left side of the speaker was a different size than the right and same with the two screws below those two. How weird?
