Changed engine oil and filter last weekend and today I assembled a pump for the coming transmission oil and filter change this weekend.

Hi,

I bought a kit with fitting adapters from a store called Biltema here in Sweden. Was a bit expensive at 39$ but then I could buy it from a local store.

Here is a link:
http://www.biltema.se/sv/Bil---MC/Ve...ar-2000024070/

I think the adapter for the MB is the smaller one in the middle.

Thanks. The site tells "ATF Adaptor 12 mm x 1,5 Mercedes " so now I can find it locally, or build one.

I hope that's the right dimensions. I will perform the service tomorrow so will report back if it fit or not.

The adapter fits perfectly. My assembled garden spray pump with some extra 10mm PVC hose and the adapter worked perfectly to pump in about 7.2 liters of ATF. The pump even had a handle which you could start and stop the fluid with. Cost me 7$ for the pump, 12$ for the hose and 7$ for a whole set of hose clamps. So about 26$ and then I got a set of hose clamps and 9.8 meter of PVC hose left.

I could not see any drain plug for the torque converter, so I guess I don't have that one.

Also fitted used headlights as the one on the car was for left hand traffic as I bought it from Japan. Unfortunately the my old headlights were in perfect condition and the new ones in a quite a bad condition. So I spent some time trying to fresh them up. Worked out OK but I need to get finer grit wet sandpaper to get all the small scratches out.

I also saw a small hole in the front air struts seal, so I need to figure out a way to repair that before it gathers to much dirt inside and breaks.
Anyone got an idea?

This month I've replaced the following: 187k
Water pump
Power steering pump and reservoir
Serpentine belt (my fault for installing current belt incorrectly and it began tearing itself)
Idler pulley (replaced in April but began making noise. Replaced for free at the parts counter. This little stupid thing caused me to replace the other two items. I never guessed the noise was coming from a relatively new part!)

Arrow Just got her yesterday... already taking her apart

Welp I installed some clear side markers. Trying to decide if I want white led, amber led or amber bulb... I'm dissappointed by the amount of light coming from the amber led, the white looks really good but will fail inspection due to it not being amber. Amber bulb is great but will probably burn a hole in the housing like it did with the stock MB side marker...lol

Also taking the trunk apart to add rear view camera. Had a bug in the rear taillights so those had to come out as well. Added rear license plate modules as well. So much cleaner looking than the crappy feston yellow bulbs. It actually looks classy from the back now. Pure white clean light.

Just overall cleaning of the underside of the car as well. Soo much to do.

Nice! I'm planning on installing my clear side markers this weekend. Did you retain the factory plastic retainer for the marker or use the one that came with them? I had some issues getting the DEPO clear marker into the factory piece so i'm wondering if I just need to use a bit more elbow grease. Also, I'm jealous of your lift lol.

Sukh,

I am going to use the plastic pieces that came with the side markers. They are a little bit cheaper than the OEM ones as far as rigidity. But I am keeping the stockers in case something happens. I tried both and they snap in (though tough) to both black plastic retaining pieces... so just figured I'd use the one that came with them. I did have to use FORCE to remove them, as I thought for sure something was going to break in the process but sure enough they come out unwillingly.

lol on the lift. It was one of those things that I got a super good deal on 4 years ago from one of the garage forums I belong to and had I known what I would be doing I would have gotten a full size lift since my ceiling can accommodate it, but hind sight is always 20/20. I will say however the lift has paid for itself at least 6x times over now with all the **** I've done with our cars. I only wish I had more space, but this size garage is typical in VA.. they mark it as a double when in reality to me it's an over sized SINGLE..lol
Gotta make due with what ya got though!

Just got my s/s door pins from ebay. There are vendors on here that charge WAY too much for the same freaking thing, even down to the exact part number. This is the only forum I've ever been to where it's very obvious that a lot of the vendors are severely over priced and gouge people.

Here is a link in case anyone is unsure which ones to get.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/251428059584?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Anyway pictures attached. Looks so much nicer than the cheap plastic pins. Very easy install. Unscrew the stock ones and screw these on. I read many places that the rears were glued one rather than threaded... wasn't the case at all for my 09' w211. All 4 threaded on.

Appointment with my indie today for D service, and all is good...They recommended headlights cleaning, and valve cover gaskets changing, but all is good on the home front.

Yep blows my mind. Either it our fault because people keep buying **** from them when they should be looking... but it just makes me mad, especially when I email the one vendor JBspeed asking if the price on their website is final and he knocked off $5, for the SAME item I can get for $25 less on ebay.... it's a joke. I'll never do business with vendors like that because they should be treating forum members BETTER than ebay. I believe a LOT of vendors on here just buy from the same place that we can get items then mark the items UP. But oh well, that's the beauty of being able to buy **** elsewhere...hahah

Welp this came in the mail today along with the laptop.

I turned on the laptop and the drive only has 4gb left..lol out of 150gb. It's fast. SSD makes it quick for sure, 4gb mem, for some reason they used 32 bit Win7 instead of 64 but I'm not going to complain.

I plan on cloning the drive tomorrow with another SSD and then using that SSD as the main drive of the unit so I have the original as the spare if **** breaks. Cables seem to be of quality. Super thick, very large connectors, doesn't feel cheap at all.

I will play with it tomorrow when I get home from work. Hoping for the best.

This is the one I bought:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/152175336454?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Took a week to get here from Canada.

Then I started looking more on Ebay and had I found this seller earlier I would have gone with them since they are in Baltimore, and am in VA, I could have met up with them and drove 45 minutes to pick it up. They have 100% feedback with a year warranty.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/222211678357?ul_noapp=true

I'll post some input once I start playing around with it. Should be good. Being in IT this was one of the weirder purchases that I've made only because I haven't purchased a computer in forever, IE: I either build them or use the work ones... but after seeing how long it takes to set them up and to do so properly I figured the extra couple hundred spent on one that is already done saves me the week+ long fiddling with it. I imagine it being like a Linux distro build and those take me at LEAST a week to properly tweak and get going so I'd imagine this as the same.

Laptop is in decent condition. Little nicks here and there. I will thoroughly test it though over the weekend and see how it holds up. I don't think speed will be an issue with this. It's a quick laptop and for the sole purpose of only talking with the car it's probably overkill but, it won't be on my network nor will it ever get updated/online as I hear that tends to break things on here, (Other than Merc software that needs updates, no MS Win or other software updates).

What's winter? The time you carry umbrella "just in case" ?
Negotiating selling MaxiEcu scanners in USA.
The +- $200 LEGAL scanner has huge possibles for the money.
Works with any USB equipped computer in Windows XP till Windows 10.
I wonder if Bluetooth option allowing you scanning car from your office will catch?

2016 E350 Sport; Mom Wrecked the 2008 E350; sold the 2002 C320
Bought a new pair of Hella headlights, retrofitted EvoX-R/E55 hybrid bixenon projectors, XPel protectors and installed last weekend. This weekend I'm replacing the front side markers (bulbs burn out every time it rains). While replacing my headlights, I noticed burn holes & cracks on each of them. My new side markers should arrive tomorrow.

Nigel: I appreciate your informative posts about the work you're doing on your W211. Many thanks. I have a couple of questions for you:

1. Can you give some details about the lighting upgrades you did on the license plate lights? Source? Nomenclature or part numbers or ... whatever info is needed for ordering the correct LEDs. I'd like to replace my OEM license plate lights with something that puts out more light, but I don't know what works with our "delicate" MB electricals.

2. About that backup camera ... same as above. Source? What does it take to make it work in a 211 electrical system? We have two 2007 MBs that we're very happy with. However, each lacks one component that I'd really like to have: backup camera. I'd appreciate any info you can offer. And then there's question: If you were doing it over, what would you do differently or maybe just not do at all?

Again ... thanks for your posts.

No problem at all, I love forums so any help I can give is great considering how much help I've received...etc. Sometimes one searches for info and it's just not out there which can be super frustrating.

1. A lot of people use normal error free/canbus plug in LEDS for the rear. I'm not a fan of these when the modules are so much better in my opinion.
I did the same exact thing to our CLK and the license plate light is awesome. I will attach a picture below just for reference in my garage with the lights off.

I bought these:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/311357133371?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
They are in NY so it's super fast to get them. He has sold a lot of them and he had good feedback. There are more expensive ones and cheaper ones. I tend to go middle of the road and hope for the best sometimes. These have been on numerous times and it does NOT throw an error code son the dash. I tested these prior to putting them in the car for I believe 18 hrs or so... I pretty much hooked them up to my ATX power supply mid day, went to work at night and in the morning they were still on, with no heat coming from them and no leds burned out. The first set I had on our CLK was fine for a little bit until at random the right rear would sometimes flicker... after I took it apart there was a bad solder joint and had I tested them like the above would have been obvious. Live and learn (2nd for clk was fine and is still fine year+ later)

The thing with the above though is some people don't like to remove the rear trunk panel. It's super easy and there is a how-to somewhere here. Long to short, you remove the inside trunk lid lining, (I believe 15 black push pins, seems like they are never ending) disconnect the small harness, remove lining from trunk lid. Two torq screws (one on the left and right) then you will carefully pull downward as you unsnap the rear trunk lid. Once you get a corner off it's easy. Don't be afraid of this step.

Then simply disconnect the two license plate harnesses and pop the lights out, snap the new ones in (which look identical fit/finish to stock) and plug the harnesses back in. Button everything back up in reverse order and you are good. First time might take you 40 minutes, but after that it's only a 15-20 minute job, the longest part is the silly black push pins that leave your fingers raw from pulling them out.

2. As far as the camera. This seems to be something more people are familiar on. However I know for the 2009 model they used the NTG2.5 Comand which has the green video input on the back. I purchased a kit that allows VIM (video in motion, and codes the command to do the backup camera option). You'd have to check to see what version Comand you have and if you have that green connector I don't see why there shouldn't be an option to get you up and running.

3. What would I do differently?
So with the backup camera (which is still a WIP mainly due to other side projects) I would not have purchased the kit I got off eBay ONLY because I just purchased a C4 Mux w/DAS/Xentry... I can do everything (I'm pretty sure but will find out when I play with it more this weekend) this device enables on it's own. Meaning had I KNOWN I was going to get a C4 system I would have saved my money from purchasing this. Note that it is NOT a bad option at all. In fact if you do not have a STAR/DAS system this is 100% perfect with zero issues at all. I only started to think of getting the C4 system because I want to code the car for xenons and unlock certain features and figured paying an indy shop $70 an hour or in their case 5 minutes worth of work AFTER I print out the how tos for them it's just easier and worth it that I purchase this equipment.
Which I am more than likely going to sell on here so that someone can use it rather than it sitting in a closet doing nothing.

I'm torn between two cameras right now. I have a Rydeen Duo and Sony CCD camera that I am testing/playing with. Both are nice cameras. The Rydeen is a 150' viewing angle and can enable/disable backup lines while the Sony is 170' degree with no backup lines. The Rydeen will fit in between the right side license plate light and the door handle lift thing on the trunk. The Sony will not because it's just a tag wider, so it must go on the right side of the trunk by the license plate light. So I currently torn between the following options.

A. Use the Rydeen camera that has 150' viewing angle but having it very close to the center of the trunk.

B. Use the Sony CCD camera with 170' viewing angle but having it to the right of the license plate light.

Neither is a bad option but I want to make sure before drilling the hole which I am going to be most happy about. Ideally I would like the Sony CCD camera to be the size of the Rydeen with the option of backup lines all while keeping the 170' degree viewing angle, but unfortunately that's not the case.

Hope this helps. Once I am done with most I am going to post a thread with info so that it helps future people out.

It just sucks when you order stuff overseas and have to wait for it or doing multiple things at once with the car. I have waiting for my interior leds though they should be here tomorrow I hope. GPS antenna extension, video cable, STAR system...etc. The figuring out how to proper do led interior, backup camera, Code the car, bi-xenon projector retro fit.. But it's all good, should pay off in the end.
