What are some of the most common, serious issues with the 2006 E350? I am interested in making the switch from my C to a E and just looking for pointers in terms of potential issues to look out for before purchasing. Any advice would be highly appreciated.

My 06 350 4matix has been problem free so far for 110,000 miles. I have been very diligent with maintenance and started increasing my budget plan at 100K so I can , if I choose to, keep the car for another 8-10 years. I've recently replaced both batteries and had transmission, brakes, radiator and every fluid serviced wether it was on the service schedule or not. Also, you will read many worrisome posts about the expected balance shaft failure. The reality is that among those cars affected, which mine is, the service life expectancy is no different unless the previous owner has not followed the lubrication specifications and interval requirements. So, if you cannot verify that with the car you are buying, then be prepared to accept the risk. I'm sure there may be others who will disagree and warn you away from an 06 but my experience and research has yielded different results and I preferred the 06 features and less complicated technology for the long-term ownership plan.

Thanks for all the insight. My E550 is telling me service D in 12 days. I guess I'm not the only one confused by the D when everything else shows numbers. I will try to call up what is needed on my 2008. Correct me if I'm wrong, on the 2008 you must hit the reset button 3 times and not hold it for 5 seconds?

Hello,
I have a 2003 E320 RWD (Canadian) I inherited from my dad. I am afraid that while playing with the FSS I may have deleted what service it was calling for, last I recall was a Service F. I read the manual and it says if you delete codes by accident you should consult the dealer to have it brought back. Does anyone know how I can salvage this mess? My bad 100%, but I hope to get the right maint done as that is what dad would have wanted. Thank you

MB E220 W211 2008 was not possible to reset the service D. I think the kilometers are changed. Can anyone tell me how this can be done? How can I make these settings with MB Star C4 / C5 in ASSYST PLUS? Please help. Thank you.
