Modifying Ventilated Seats?

I was checking out this thread here:

https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...d-anymore.html

Looks like people have replaced the W211 AMG fans with larger ones. Has anyone done this on their W212? I really like the idea of swapping them out with something that actually cools. Currently, it just feels like the ventilation option just doesn't do much.

If anyone has any input on this, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

Mike

why? A bunch of effort to get just a little bit more air moving? The seat uses cabin air to cool. You need to super cool the air as best as you can and leave the fan on 3 for it to work at all. Personally, I would not be ripping into the seats to make a useless modification such as this.

If you read the other thread, the fans are accessed by removing two screws. It's an easy 15-20 minute modification.

Considering they have had wonderful success with it, I would ask why WOULDN'T you want to do it?

Go for it then. Knock yourself out.
All I see in that thread is bigger fans for the two in the seat back. That's it?
What about the three in the seat cushion? Those are the ones that I never feel ventilation from. I have had two MB's with ventilated seats and at least you can feel the back fans on your body. I would think the ones in the seat are the ones that need to be swapped out and that is not going to be a 15 minute job.

I very well may. First seeing if anyone else has done it, has fan recommendations, etc.

I say go for it. Are the fans in my car great? No. Is there any point to the lower settings? Not that I can see. But for me it works just good enough when on high. I can feel it so long as my clothes are not too think. I read the other threads and those folks sounded like they felt nothing at all.

Not to get too off topic, but even in a friend's M37 with actual cooled seats, it takes a while to start to feel a difference when the seats and you are hot to start from the sun. On a short trip his back is still hot and a little damp. On a longer trip, he has to dial down those M37 seat coolers before he gets too cold from the chilled air and dampness already there. I prefer to use a sunshade and windshield tint so that the seat never gets to hot to start. Cool and dry is better than cold and wet.

MB’s
I have the ventilated seats on 2 of our MB's. They work OK. Remember they are A/C Seats like on many other brands.
